Phuket Resorts

Mon Jul 14, 2008 12:21 am

Not sure where this belongs but we are looking for a luxury resort in Phuket that won't break the budget. We are looking for a good clean and friendly resort with a nice beach. Previously we have stayed at the Sheraton Grand Laguna. We are looking at the JW Marriott and will probably book it if nothing interesting turns up here. Also resorts on island that takes a lengthy transfer (ie over an hour) from the airport aren't possible as we only have three nights before our flight back to SIN.
Thanks in advance.

Go for Hilton Arcadia. Been there few times. If you want uncrowded and quiet beaches stay in Karon area. The nightlife and 'crowded' beach are loacted in Patong, just a mile or 2 away. about 250/300 bath by tuctuc

I stayed at the Le Meridian and was pleased with the experience. Though if I ever went back I would probably try the JW Marriott.

Have stayed at both the Sheraton and the JW Marriott. The JW wins hands down! Last time there was in March. Stayed at the JW for a week and had a great time. The resort is isolated, clean, friendly staff, great rooms and better value than the Sheraton. In the past 2 years have stayed at the JW 5 times.

Thanks for all the replies,
I am looking for something rather isolated as we don't really need the Phuket Night Life this time around and are looking for a relaxing family holiday (with grown up kids - 15 and older).
We have looked at other options such as the Royal Phuket Yacht Club or the Le Meridien, which seems to be a bit dated. The best option I can see so far as in Privacy, Price and Facility is the JW Marriott. We are willing to spend a bit more though if the reosrt on a whole is a lot better.

Cheers!

My first recommendation is to stay at the Katathani Phuket Beach Resort. It is more family friendly and is a beautiful hotel. It is also slightly less than the Marriott.

My second recommendation would be the JW Marriott. It is stunning and is a good place to stay with teenagers.

Here are some more hotels:

3* Kamala Beach Hotel
4* Patong Beach Hotel
5* Chedi Phuket
5* Dusit Laguna
5* Sheraton Grand Laguna
5* Le Meridien Phuket

Hope this helps!

Quoting AF340 (Reply 7):

Thanks for this, but it looks like its a fairly lengthy drive from the airport but also a choice. The two positive things about the JW Marriott and this hotel is the fact that it is a private beach that is not surrounded by public beaches where salesmen constantly pester the beahc-goers to buy necklaces etc.
Thanks for that

Never had this problem in Karon beach area. You can take a seaplane from HKT to Patong/Karon

I would suggest the Dusit Laguna Resort. I've been going there for 10 years and it's great. Wouldn't go anywhere else. Great amenties, lots of food options, nice beach and friendly staff.

Thanks a lot for all the replies but we have booked two nice packages for three nights at quite a reasonable price.
