Iranian Basketball Team To Train In Utah

At least not everything falls victim to international politics. And, perhaps, a little gesture like this could someday break the barrier between the U.S. and Iran. Who knows?

Little steps.

This kind of goes back to Khatami's interview with Christiane Amanpour and how he wished for an exchange of cultures.

On the sports side of things, I have heard really good things about basketball in Iran, where it has basically become the number 3 sport behind football/soccer and wrestling (the real stuff). The center for Iran's team is a 7'2", 254 pound 23 year old named Hamed Hadadi who has been drawing a lot of interest from the NBA. He has even rejected lucrative European offers in preparation for that. It would be great to see him sign with the Lakers to back up Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol, as he would likely find comfort in L.A.'s massive Iranian community.
