10 Yr Old Stowaway In Trouble Again

Mon Jul 07, 2008 11:18 pm

Here's an update on the 10 year old (now 11) stowaway from Tacoma.
Quote:
"Semaj Booker, 11, was arrested by Tacoma police Saturday for investigation of burglary after allegedly breaking into a house, prosecutor Fred Wist said".

Many people in the original thread said that this was not the last time we're going to hear about this kid. They were right.

The original thread-

Ah yes, including the memorable post from a member who claimed he was only a harmless little kid, doesn't pose any sort of threat and could easily just be stopped by merely stepping on him if he ever got out of hand.......and was aghast that others should be concerned about his ability to very easily evade airport security lol!!!

Whatever. You want to talk about someone, you address them.

The kid posed NO THREAT to the plane or the airport. He had NO WEAPON. He was 10, and could easily be controlled if he went nuts merely by holding him down, but showed no signs of being crazy.

If you believe that you, as an adult, could evade airport security by clinging to the side of another adult as the kid did, I challenge you to do it. Or find a record of anyone else who has done it. Because that is the so called "hole" in security he exploited, something only a CHILD could get away with.

But, of course, you know that you, as an adult, could not do such a thing, and that I am correct in my analysis that an UNARMED 10 year old poses NO THREAT to airport security, aircraft, etc. no matter if he is able to sneak through or not, nor does the fact a ten year old can sneak through security mean that ANYONE can just as easily do so. It's a logical fallacy to make the leap from unarmed child to dangerous terrorist. Just one more person believing in the false theory of the "slippery slope."

Now, if he continues on his life of rebellion (like it seems like he is), he WILL end up being a threat to people and property. He's heading down that path quickly. Doesn't mean that at age 10 his actions were a threat to anyone but himself, by damaging his own future.

PS - And I've never been "aghast" in my life.

And just in case you don't know how diminutive a 10 year old is, a 95th percentile 10 year old is under 5' tall and 100 pounds (1.4m and 32kg). Average is much smaller (4'7 and 70lbs). He posed no threat to anyone…  Wink

As with the thread about the family that got kicked of WN,

"Kids will be kids"

Heck with that, WHERE ARE THE PARENTS ?

Any damage or trouble he causes, they should be held liable, because they are aware that he is trouble.

Before he continues to climb the ladder of criminal success, he should be reminded that the state of Washington is the last remaining state in the US where HANGING is still a legal form of capital punishment.

He is best advised not to get too ambitious in his chosen career of crime.

The fact is that in five years...

Who will become a 16-year-old. Now, I don't have my boys' growth curves handy, but I think I can put it on common experience that a 16-year-old can be a very big, very strong, and very agile fully-grown grown man capable of feats of endurance and stamina that only a teenager can pull off.

This kid has some amazing skills. The best thing to do would be to get this kid away from his family and to start educating and training him to work as a special agent of some sort for the government.

That or we can wait for him to do something truly harmful.

Whatever indeed. Firstly, get it correct, I was not answering any post from you in the slightest so come down off your high horse where you feel you must be addressed. I already did that in the original thread where, among others, it is my opinion you are completely wrong. If you disagree with that opinion, that's your affair not mine.
In the sole context of this thread, which is about the same child getting into trouble again I was reiterating that someone persists, despite repeated evidence, that he is no threat to anyone. Absolute nonsense.

Anybody else want to bet that this kid's name is Semaj because that's "James" spelled backwards?

In all seriousness, this is a kid who clearly has no sense of boundaries. Either that's his mother's fault because of bad parenting or it's a mental condition (the most frequent one being "selfish.") Either way, he needs to be completely separated from his present life and placed in custodial care until he understands that there are other people in the world, and his wants don't trump theirs. It seems like this kid is an 11-year-old who was essentially unparented. You'd be surprised how wily and scheming young teenagers can be, even in the era in which we excuse poor decisions made by 21-year olds as being "youthful indiscretions." This isn't a kid doing something like running around naked in the streets at the age of six. This is breaking and entering. If you have the mental capacity to break and enter and then lie about it in multiple stories tailored to convince the listener, you have the mental capacity to take the punishment.

Maybe the kid works for him.  scratchchin   Wink

I hope he gets charged and thrown in jail.

Again...this probly isn't the last we're gonna hear about this kid. Anyone else able to see Semaj as a killer in the future? Unless he is able to cleanup his act.

This is the exact reason why we need guardian responsibility laws in the US. This li'l thug's momma clearly cannot effectively parent a child, and thus should be in jail for the continuous crimes of her son. Additionally, her other children should be placed in foster care.

So, you'd punish innocent parties for the crimes of others?

Seriously, this kids mum doesnt give him his ADHD medicine provided. There are reports of abuse and a mother who has fights with boyfriends. He started running away trying to get on planes at age 9, continued at age 10. The bloke is screaming out for help.

You dont need to be Einstein to realise that this boys mum is not the solution but the problem.

If the state dont deal with this now they will end up paying for him for the rest of his life. He needs an environment where he gets his medicine, where its calm and where his ADHD will be under control and treated.
Let him run free and continue to stay with his mum and its a just a matter of time before he hurts someone seriously and then its not just his mums problem but a victims problem too.

This is where the state must step in and sort the mess before it becomes even more serious. Any 10 years old deserves the assistnce of society, any sick (ADHD is classed as a sickness) boy needs treatment.
I really hope its not to late but the signs doesnt look good. His odds are against him and if something isnt done soon it will be too late.

The cost of trying to assist this lad now will be nothing compared to what the cost of having someone spend most of his life in prison is.

I don't exactly think the mother is innocent in this case. She's guilty of raising a real piece of crap and shouldn't be allowed to have contact with her other children. She was his guardian! Therefore, she should also assume some blame of his actions!

Look, I'm all for appropriately treating ADHD with medicine, don't get me wrong.

But this is WAY beyond ADHD. He may well have ADHD; wouldn't surprise me. But antisocial and criminal behavior are not diagnostic hallmarks for ADHD.

And yes, I am an expert on this subject.

But you're also asking her other kids to do the same. Take the punishment of being placed in foster care, for the acts of their brother.

We can, and should, only be held responsible for our own actions - not the actions of others.
