It's Official.....Farve Is Back W/ The Pack

Mon Aug 04, 2008 10:56 am

Announced last night, although not clear if he is going to be the starter or not. Sounds like Rodgers is going to fight for it, and rightfully so.

Several media reports on Sunday indicated that quarterback Brett Favre will be returning to Green Bay Packers training camp to compete for the starting job with Aaron Rodgers, and even though Head Coach Mike McCarthy did not confirm that will be the case when Favre is reinstated on Monday, Rodgers emphasized following the Family Night scrimmage that if a competition does result, he has no plans to just hand over the job he's held since Favre's retirement in March.

He is on the cover of Madden 09. I would expect the Madden curse to take over, and for him to not do so well. Should have stayed out on top. Had a great season last year, why take a chance of ruining that this year.

Welcome back Brett!!

He hasn't started a season for years where people aren't clamoring for his retirement.. most of the time he plays better than the average QBs but some seasons are phenomenal.

He can't run, but he can throw like no other and certainly has the experience and audacity to be able to do some amazing things in the coming season, given the chance.

As a Packer fan I'm pleased with both Rodgers and Favre. As long as the game is entertaining, I'm pleased. The NFL is far too unpredictable to predict anything about how individual teams are going to fare in the coming season.

Last season was brilliant. Just brilliant!  Smile

Boy, the Packers showed HIM who is boss.  Yeah sure

If I were Aaron Rodgers, I'd make their decision easy, and ask for a trade, instead of putting up with this circus again.

Why did he even come back? He already has a Lombardi Ring, already is a legend, pretty much... What more does he want? IMO, he should have gone the road that Bettis went -- the high road out.

I think it depends.

If he gets to be the starting quarterback and doesn't play as well or better than last season, I agree with you. If however, he plays as well or better than last season, then I don't.

If he won't be the starting quarterback, then I'm also very pleased because he's one damn fine second quarterback if Rodgers goes on one of his injury sprees. He's been known to do that from time to time...

Can they still trade him? The Jets need a quarterback and they are in the AFC East, well out of Green Bay's way.

He should have retired. This is Michael Jordan all over again, with the difference that he's staying exactly where he is. Sorry, but while I wished him good luck last season to get the Lombardi trophy, this year he lost my sympathies, and the sympathies of many others with his constant retirement thing. He should just retire, end of the story. Let the fresh blood take over and go to something else, like becoming a Quaterback coach or a headcoach at some college or even in the NFL itself.

If they don't want to trade Favre, they could, just could, trade Aaron Rogers to the Jets. At least he'll get decent playing time there, should Favre be the number 1 QB again.  Wink

OK, so this changes every minute I need to change the topic to "It's Official....Farve is still in the NFL" It seems Mike McCarthy and Brett can't come to an agreement and a trade seems likely. Tampa Bay is the team being thrown around at the moment.

Brett needs to watch "Any Given Sunday". He is Cap Rooney.

Wake me when George Blanda shows up for Raiders training.

Damn Damn Damn  banghead

I am a fan of no team in the NFC North and wanted to see him a Minnesota Viking or a Bear just so the Green Bay suits get a kick in the mouth for even hesitating in bringing Favre back.

They can but he will deny a trade to the Jets, he wants to play for a contender needing a QB and that basically leaves Minnesota and Chicago as the top of the short list.
