Half Of The World's Monkey Population Faces Death

Tue Aug 05, 2008 1:26 pm

..following research by scientists in most of the world's rain-forrest areas.
Most threatened area is Asia, where de-forrestation and illegal hunting will be responsible for the extinction of nearly half of the species known.
Is it really impossible for us to allow wild-species to live in peace and security ????
Not only will the ongoing process of nature-destruction get away with rare species of animals, but also with a multitude of herbs and plants ,currently still unresearched for their medical virtues.
While there are societies for the protection of nature like WWF,their cause is no match for economic "priorities" defended by the lobby of destruction.

Well....what do you propose for the increasing needs of the increasing population for better and safer housing. The people living in everything from suburbs to shantytowns need larger, cleaner and more liveable space, the economies of the world are consistently growing, the land is not getting any bigger.

Short of drastic population control measures what is the answer? Do we put monkeys and unknown plant-medicines ahead of the most basic of human needs, being shelter?

How about food? Alot of the land is being cleared for food production. Who should starve in order to save the tree sloth?

I agree that a balance needs striking. Who sacrifices population in order to maintain ecological balance?
Is my Pan Am ticket to the moon still good?

If people would stop proliferating like rabbits we'd be better off !
As a radical defender of animals-rights I do not defend the right for humans to breed children in insane quantities ,requesting ever more space and destruction of nature.
Using your argument ,the planet would be build up in three hundred years completely, leaving no space for those creatures that inhabited the earth before we came..
Unlike most,I dont think we are so precious that our polluting presence justifies the extinction of wildlife and natural environment.

Stop having babies or stop complaining about decreases in

> monkey habitat
> tiger habitat
> spotted owl habitat
> elephant habitat

not to mention

> oil
> fresh air
> fresh water
> human decency (scarcity alone gives value. Too many people - too little value)

Stop having babies.

There is no other solution. Anything else is just a scam an excuse to squabble over power and wealth.
Happiness is not seeing another trite Ste. Maarten photo all week long.

A mass genocide would be one....but lets not go there. :P
Life only makes sense when you look at it backwards.
