White House 'buried British intelligence on Iraq WMDs' and forged letter

" MI6 told Tony Blair before the invasion of Iraq that a high-placed Iraqi source said that Saddam Hussein had no weapons of mass destruction. The intelligence was passed to the US but was buried by the White House, according to a new book.

The book claimed that the former Prime Minister sent a top British spy to the Middle East in 2003 — three months before the invasion — to dig up enough intelligence to avoid war but that President Bush and Dick Cheney, the Vice-President, dismissed any claims or possible evidence that would stop military action.

I completely believe that the above story may be true (or a variation on it).

However, I have met Suskind and I don't consider him to be a reliable man. In fact he said the main goal of his journalism was to promote "social justice." He really said that. Here, I would have thought "truth" was good enough. In a sense, Suskind did not even claim to be a journalist, but rather, simply an agent of change.

That said, of course the White House was intentionally burying the facts of intelligence, as the WH has done on many topics -- climate change, national finance, and so forth. The WH's central hubris was that Presidential power is strong enough to override any fact. Power first, facts second.

Yep, who knows how much profit our government has been making every year and just hiding it in a paper maze.

The new book "The Way of the World" by Pulitzer Prize winning author Ron Suskind has several high level Bush administration goons on the record (in fact, recorded on audio tape) stating that George Tenet (the former Director of the CIA) was told to bury pertinent information and forge other information regarding WMDs by Bush, Rice, and Cheney. Here's a link to Suskind's lengthy interview on MSNBC.
