Question For Muslims/Arabic Speakers

Fri Aug 15, 2008 5:59 pm

Just flicking through some old pics today, and I came across this one taken outside (I think) a cinema in Bahrain. What is on the poster, and why does the guy on the ground have no face? It intrigued me enormously, and where better to find out about it on here!

That is Imam Hussain crying after one of his close companions was killed protecting him. Actually a very long story to explain on here but I will add some links.

The faces are not shown because Islam prohibits showing faces of religious figures.

Could it be a movie about the caliph Ali, who got killed in a succession rivalty by his rivals? From what I know the Shiites follow Ali, while the Sunnites follow his rivals.
and since Ali was a direct descendant of Mohammed, I think this is the reason why his face was made invisible, since it should not be depicted.

Thanks guys. I didn't realise that Islam prohibited showing the faces of all religious figures; I thought it applied just to Allah.

Thank you.

yes, Islam forbids faces or even pictures of religious fugures especially all Prophets, including Jesus, Moses, Abraham, etc etc.

The reason is some Muslims may hang these pictures and worship them like is being practiced in some beliefs. Islam allows worship of God ONLY and the Prophets are messengers of God and are not to be worshiped but to be followed.
