Songs You Can't Stand To Listen To

Thu Aug 28, 2008 1:18 am

Hi, everyone. I was a tiny bit bored, so I decided to ask you guys what some of the songs you absolutely hate and can't bear to listen to. Here is one of mine: Nights in White Satin by the Moody Blues. I don't know why, but I just hate it for some reason. What are some of your hated songs?

Any song that has the same line being sung for a whole song. "Who Let the Dogs Out" is a classic example of this. Why do people fall in love with that crap?!

Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis: It just give me the creeps.

Add to the list anything from any "artist" churned out by Disney.
I lift things up and put them down.

Most songs released in the last 10 years or so...they lack imagination and creativity, especially when they sample good songs from days gone by. There are a few original bands around at the moment, such as The Feeling, but generally there is nothing that grabs my imagination and attention and instead have me listening to Radio 2!!

And don't even get me started on anything related to Barbie, Mr. Blobby or Bob the Builder...a pure insult to the senses!!

I'll second this, it's so bad but it just gets stuck in your head.
Personally I just can't stand pretty much any rap song. For the most part,
it's so repetitive, vulgar, and completely pointless. It's hard to find a song these days
that doesn't cause me to think "why" when I hear it.

What?
That is one of the best songs ever recorded. I guess you are unaware of everything recorded since you've been alive.
The Moody Blues is one of the greatest bands out of the U.K.
They were one of the early pioneers of progressive rock.
It's best to listen to that entire album 'Days Of Future Passed' on a quadraphonic reel-to-reel tape.
Listening to it on an ipod or YouTube just ain't going to cut it.

I hate every song in these categories:

Emo

I love these threads Big grin

Can't stand:

Grace Kelly by Mika
Any rap. I hate rap with a passion.
I kissed a girl by Kate Perry.
The Pretender by The Foo Fighters (I don't like any of their songs)

Anything by:

The Jonas Brothers (girls just like them cuz they think their hot)
The Black Eyed Peas
The Offspring
Nirvana
Airborne

I try to avoid listening to most stuff that's played alot on the radio. Some of it's good. I listen to alot of metal bands that most people haven't heard of. So I don't have to worry about people posers saying they listen to them cuz I know they don't. Mostly underground metal that will never get on the radio; black metal, obscure thrash metal, blackened death metal, melodic death metal.
Avoid hangovers, stay drunk.

Agreed as well. Something else that bugs me about stuff from the last decade (and a half) is that most bands have singers that sound like they're always whining about something. Not necessarily the lyrics, but their voice. I don't know if 'whiney' is the right way to describe it, but I can't stand it.

Edit: Seems like we agree AustinAirport

The problem is the radio stations that do play that have forgotten that the Moody Blues actually recorded many other songs. Albums full of them in fact, much of it was quite good.

One song I absolutly cannot listen to, even 35 years later, is 'My Love Does It Good' by Paul McCarthy. The song was the top song in the early summer of 1973. I had an AM radio playing all the time when working a job then just after the spring semester of my 1st year of college that I hated so much I left it by July 1st. It is just a horribly bad song by what is one of the greats of modern music and the connection with that horrible job just made it worse. There are other songs I can't stand too, but not as bad as that one.

Urrrrrrrrp.

How about Paul Anka's "Havin' My Baby"? Hmmm? That's detestable.

Or "Surfin' Bird" by the Trashmen?

Or "Turn me Loose" by Fabian? -although parenthetically, this is a tune written by Doc Pomus that comes out pretty well on the tribute album when performed by Dion.

Speaking of that fellow, how about "Teenager in Love" by Dion and the Belmonts?

And folks, the absolute worst of all freakin time is "Last Kiss" by J. Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers.

Honorable mention to "I Fought the Law" by The Bobby Fuller Four, the aforementioned Fuller having expired from an overdose of Mobil Hi-test.

Thanks, Slammer for ruining my morning.

Biggest sellout song of ALL TIME... she was a semi-legitmate "punk" singer, but that flew out the window with "Girlfriend."

Other songs I can't stand-

"Rico Suave" Gerardo (surprised this hasn't been mentioned. I will say though, I do find the song extremely funny)

Too many artists make too many covers recently. In some cases, I like it when in a concert, the band makes a spontaneous cover (mainly when Die Ärzte are performing live, who are one of the few rockbands who not only make a great on-stage show, but take things further and constantly change the lyrics of their songs to the delight of the fans), but most of the recorded covers are crap.

Christina Aguilera used to be one of them AFAIK. Then let's not forget the most recent class of Disney artists, such as Hannah Montana aka Miley Cyrus. Christina got somewhat famous with her Disney song, and now look where she is: She's become a nobody once again. At least to her credit, she's less of an attention whore than fellow "Mickey-Mouse-Club" member Britney has ever been (at least you see far less from Christina in the news, and who knows how Miley Cyrus will do in the future, especially after hitting 18).

Songs You Can't Stand To Listen To

That dammed Kid Rock song that the stupid top 40 stations cant stop playing. I hate how they keep calling it the song of summer and any other such non sense they come up with. Every time I hear it, I just want to take a dam knitting needle to my eardrums.  banghead
Doors open, right hand side, next stop is Springfield.
