My Cousin Retired From The Air Force After 26yrs

Thu Sep 04, 2008 1:36 am

Today I received an e-mail that my cousin was retiring after serving in Air Force for 26 years. His retirement date is scheduled for September 19th 2008. He is currently a Combat Photojournalist with the 1st Combat Camera Squadron based in Charleston, SC. In addition, he has served three tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan and has been recently assigned combat patrols with the Army unit he was detached in. Once I get a photo, I will post it.

I had no idea that such a unit would even exist! What do they use that can withstand the rigours of the job?
After Monday and Tuesday even the calendar says WTF...

Every branch has their own photographers/photojournalist. Without them, who would cover the media for us? Reuters? They're the only media we get for being overseas, never heard of the Armed Forces Network?

Congrats for your (really old) cousin. I remembered my dad's retirement 10 years ago from the U.S. Army. You must be really happy for him. I only have 14 more years til my retirement in the Armed Forces.  Wink

Good luck to him, and hope he enjoys his retirement.

The husband of one of my wife's friends is a pilot in the RAF, and he used to be in photo reconnaissance in Jaguars. Now he's training in Typhoons. Lucky begger  Wink

There is one problem with airbus. Though their products are engineering marvels they lack passion, completely.

How many years had she done? Was her tenure at the post office a fulfilling one?

26 years?

I'm at 7.5 and I have a mandatory 5 to go.... and I will promptly walk away without a second thought. The military destroys your life and your marriage.
Your men have to follow your orders. They don't have to go to your funeral.

Sorry to hear you say that 60, but after your multiple tours overseas, I can understand. I hope you don't mean your marriage is in trouble. Best wishes to you and your family, and again, thank you for your service.
