If You Had To Pick A Different Username...

Fri Sep 05, 2008 5:04 am

what would that username be?

I picked Triebwerk to combine my interest in German with my interest in aviation (Triebwerk means Jet Engine auf Deutsch), but would probably settle for Fahrwerk (landing gear) if I had to pick again. What would your alternate username be?

Quoting Triebwerk (Thread starter):

I am fine with my username. I have it for more than 4 years now and I don't want to change it.
Maybe only Change the 737 to MD11F so that I don't have to type:

Well, I picked ACDC8 because it was the first aircraft I ever flew on when I was a young lad ...

Air Canada Douglas Corporation 8

.... and as much as I love the nostalgic value of it, I wouldn't mind switching it to one of my other two favourite airlines/airliners: KLMMD11 or LHA340

When I picked my username (which boringly enough are my inititals), I specifically refrained from including any airline and any aircraft (type or reg' ), as any such snap-shot favourites tend to change over the time.

I first tried to register as C160, the type of a/c that buzz over my house each day on approach to nearby ETNW (GAF Wunstorf), but due to user-error in the registration process, this became blocked for a while.
Now that I have been active for a couple of years here on A.net I still am happy with my user name.
Not using C160 also keeps people from erroneously thinking that I actually would work on one of these a/c ...

I wanted to do something involving Midwest, but it was too long. But if I were absolutely forced to change it, I'd probably make it Midwest58 because I have probably been on that flight (OMA-DCA) more often than any other.

I've had my username for 7 years now, and I don't think I would want to change it after so long. However, I don't care for US Airways too much anymore after all of their moves to become to easyJet of North America. I much prefer Alaska/Horizon and Frontier these days, so maybe something to do with them.

Somehow when I originally signed up, it wouldn't let me select AirLiban as my screenname because it was taken. But now I don't think it is taken anymore, so perhaps I would change it to that. Then again I've been on this website for 5 years with this name, and I've grown quite fond of it  Wink

I'm content with FlyDeltaJets87, 87 being the year I was born. My a.net screenname would have been "TripleSevenPhil" but it was too long by one character.

Others I might have chosen:
Delta767400
Delta757200
ATL2CVG (used to fly this route a lot when I lived in Georgia)
N102DA

Maybe a couple years down the road when I know exactly what I'm doing in the Air Force
X-## Pilot USAF (If I get to fly, the aircraft type I'm flying)
USAF CSO
USAF JAG

I came close to going with something sports related, but decided this was an aviation forum after all.  wink

At the time, I just picked something that covered the 2 geographic areas that have been home to me: PHL & BOS. This username may not make as much sense should I move to another area.

In retrospect, I could have picked an aviation/airliner-related username that would fall in the 'wishful-thinking-fantasy department'; something like Yellowbird717 or Northeast717.

I also could've done a car-related username... much more possibilities and variations.
Examples:

Crownvic (presently taken)
Marquis (presently taken)
GrandMarquis
FordLTD
Galaxie500
Marauder
MercMarauder
T-Bird
Monterrey
ImpalaSS
Caprice
BelAir
Lincoln (presently taken)
MarkV (could also use MarkII through Mark VIII)
Continental
Riviera
Mustang

I could go on and on.

I am quite content with my user name, as well. Only problem it poses is the fact that it is technically too long for "KAUS" and does not quite spell out "Austin." Oh well.  Smile

And if memory serves correct, it was the first and only name that came to mind.

Maybe in my next a.net life, I'll have to go with something military-aviation related.
AIM-120 AMRAAM
Fox Three
AIM-9 Sidewinder

IF I do get a pilot slot (pending selection and medical qualification ) and then if Boeing somehow pulls off the tanker deal and the USAF gets KC-767s, that's going to be my first choice and if I do manage to get them, I will be changing my screenname to something along the lines of USAF KC-767.  Smile

Even though I'll never be able to fly fighters even if I do fly (too prone to motion sickness for the time being), I would love to go with F15EStrikeEagle (or F15E Mud Hen, go with the pilot's nickname for it) or F-35 JSF.

But like I said earlier - I'm content with FlyDeltaJets87 for now. Delta's my favorite airline and I've been a DL loyalist most of my life.  Smile
