Second Life

Sat Sep 06, 2008 10:32 am

I'm watching CSI: NY and the episode revolves around a victim who was found dressed like her Second Life avatar. I didn't even know such a thing existed, is anyone here a resident?

No, but I have heard about Second Life. . . I'm amazed they made a CSI episode based on Second Life. People there are really successful - Forbes has a whole page dedicated to Second Life "millionaires" who are actual millionaires in real life because they earn this virtual money in the game selling virtual porn etc and they exchange it for US Dollars. There is a exchange rate, and it's this huge online world. . .

It was hyped around the beginning of last year, is the episode you're watching from that timespan by any chance?

In theory Second Life fascinating, in practice it's just extremely boring unless you really get into it.
Samson was a biblical tough guy, but his dad Samsonite was even more of a hard case.

Some friends of mine have an account there. I watched them "playing" it. After about an hour it got boring.
but there seem to be a lot of people playing second life. So I guess making a CSI: NY episode about it makes sense to me.
