South African Presidentials- Zuma Will Come..

Sat Sep 20, 2008 4:28 pm

..and replace a rather bad president -Mbeki- with an even worse President..
No good perspective ahead for one of the largest countries on the Black Continent.
Is there any chance -ever- to have a white politician returning to the supreme position ?
The more I read about Jacob Zuma the more I win the impression the country is steering right into tremendous trouble...
I'm interested in the outcome, since part of my family lives in Johannesburg and I have visited several times ZA..
Any suggesttions as to how Zuma will improve the current econmomic down-fall ?

"..."Cadre deployment has completely undermined the independence of our constitutional institutions, whose very role it is to limit the ruling party's power and guard against the abuse of that power.

"It is time for the cadre deployment policy to be discarded once and for all, and Zuma must set the ball in motion.

"But he is unlikely to do so. Why would Zuma want an independent person as the National Director of Public Prosecutions when he is facing allegations of 783 counts of bribery over 10 years involving R4,2-million?

"Zuma has done everything to avoid his day in court in order to gain the power of the presidency.

"If he does become president, it is likely that he - more so than Thabo Mbeki - will abuse the office to protect and enrich himself and his clique.

"Cadre deployment is one of the key tools of abuse," she said.

In my opinion: yes. I believe Mbeki will form his own party, split the ANC and the DA will become the force to be reckoned with, so not only white but female, Helen Zille as potential President.

This assumes that Zuma doesn't re-write the rules and become another Mugabe.

A split in the ANC would be a very good thing for South Africa. A ruling party needs a viable opposition to keep it honest. Even the best political parties start to loose direction and become susceptible to corruption when they are in power for too long.
