The news just reported: nine dead, the 20 year old gunman wounded.

Where this terrible fashion comes... similar shooting last year in Finland, eight deads. Then the gunman admired the school shootings in US and published a shooting video on YouTube.

P.S Also now a suspicious video found on YouTube, published by a 20y old Finnish guy, from the same small town where the tragedy happened today.

The young man was interviewed yesterday by the local police regarding his Youtube video- and they let him go including his weapon..
A fatal mis-interpretation of a violent weapon-freak !
Finns are great amateurs of firearms and about 2 million of them are registered - in a country with only 5 M population..

Yes lot of firearms here, mainly because hunting is a big sport in Finland. The firearm related crimes have been relatively rare, getting a gun for hunting or sport has been rather easy.
That must change now...

I've read that Finland is 3rd country in the world that has armed weapons per civilians. After USA and Yemen. Is that really true, and what's the purpose of ordinary Finns to keep weapons?

As said above hunting is a popular every man's hobby in Finland, most of the firearms are for hunting and sport. People don't carry personal guns, firearm related crimes have been rare - until this terrible school shooting fashion. Getting a gun seems to be still too easy, that sure will change now.

Today's view of some state flags at half mast. Sorry for the fence.

Now the time is ripe for some more tax cuts, you'll all agree will you not?

I would say I - like the majority of Finns according to polls - would be ready to pay more taxes if it would mean better services, better health care at schools etc, something the killer guy would had needed...

Observing the learning results (PISA,) the Finnish kids are ranked atop of the world, but the health services at schools have been cut, more money needed there.
This hardly explains everything, but it's one of the factors.
