Polish Hooligans Documentary

Tue Oct 07, 2008 2:34 pm

I just came across this British TV show about Polish hooligans and I must say that I'm very, very impressed. I can't believe this is one of the 2 countries hosting the EURO 2012 games. Having been to a Ukrainian (the other country organising EURO 2012) football match myself last year I am starting to wonder if it was such a good idea.

The match I attended together with Nighthawk was a friendly one but the guy we were with told us that if the shit hit the fan we didn't know him in any way as that might get us into trouble. The Ukranian Police was present in great numbers and were visibly ready to step in with full force.

Just watch this:

You could really do this documentry about any country and any gang. Is it bad? Yes. Is it a problem? Definately. Personally, I would be more concerned with the Nazi and skinhead nonsense. At about 23:00 in the video it shows children chanting pro-hitler statements.
Doors open, right hand side, next stop is Springfield.

And so am I.  Cool
Some people who know their profession when it comes to football violence. Big grin

But that is damn true, especially in Poland which suffered most during 1939 and '45.

We shall see. The thought of masses of football fans heading East for copious amounts of very cheap booze is worrying. I know the English police have so far dealt pretty well with what was a horrendous problem, lets just hope the forces in Poland and Ukraine are as clued up.

We all know which countries' hooligans behave badly during Euro, World Cup or UEFA matches .... one film is too general. There was a series on The Discovery Channel about "fans" in many countries. Poland is not so bad.

I would venture to say that no country is exactly as bad as media try to put it.
Hooliganism, football violence, whatever you wanna call it, is a minority problem and pushed to public attention far beyond reason.
