Unleaded around here in the city is £1.06 per litre, head out into the sticks and you'll be paying up to £1.20 still, add another 15p to both for Diesel.

$3.65/US gallon in Atlanta, GA.

Much of it is due to Ike and our pipeline issue. What's funny is that Colonial's pipeline goes upto New York CIty but folks in NJ have no problem getting cheaper gas. Of COURSE we're getting stiffed down here...right?

Well to be entirely fair, a large part of the cheap gas in NJ is the fact that there are pretty low gasoline taxes levied by the state -- NJ usually comes out within the top 5 states for cheap gas. I live about 5 minutes from Rockland County, NY, and it's easily 40-50 cents higher as soon as you get over the border -- it's not a pipeline issue in this case.

The problem is that I drive a 4.0L V8 Range Rover that currently has an engine problem that is making it even more thirsty than ever  rotfl

Guess thats the price you have to pay if you love driving those type of cars once its fixed towards the end of the month I should get it back to 25mpg for normal driving, not that I drive to normal haha, accelerate to fast and brake to late, not to good for the mpg.

Why are you using 89 octane? Given the price spread (for at least 20 years I have noticed that the price for the 89 stuff is ALWAYS priced closer to the higher grades (92-93) than with respect to the base 87 grade) if one needs the extra octane; they're better off going for the upper grades.

Sounds like what gas stations in the Point Place section of Toledo, Ohio used to do. Is this still true in that area? I haven't been there in a few years.

That yo-yo pricing also sounds like what the local Liberty Station in Secane, PA was doing shortly after Ike (I commented on this in the previous-related thread). Presently, they're at the earlier-mentioned $3.25.

Guess what? I looked to the gas prices while driving to work this morning and what do I see?
The gas prices are up 3 cents per litre. WTF? Didn't the crude price drop again? Easy answer. It's friday before thanksgiving and the weather forecast is excellent. Gasoline makers and traders are cashing in. Again.
So YXU this morning stands at $ 1.08 (give or take a fraction of cent).

Why are you using 89 octan

My car requires 89/90/91 octane (turbocharger) and stations here only have 87/89/93 so I just put in 89. But also, around here stations always charge .10 more per octane so for example $3.03, 3.13, 3.23. I do know of one station that sells 91 but its the discount station and whenever I use their gas it doest seem to make my car run as good. So I just stick to the satus quo and go to the same gulf station I go to every thrus.

I filled up my new Volvo C30 1,8F with ethanol a few days ago. The liter price was 8,69 SEK.
Thats 1.03 € / L or $ 3.90 per gallon.
Then with ethanol the fuel consumption of the car increases by ~30% so there is still a small gain compared to gasoline.

Good thing the Yaris isn't that thirsty. About 0.6ltr/10km city (63mpUSg).
