The next-generation 2010 Prius will be larger sized from the current car and is rumored to get a new, 1.8-liter engine with with a combined horsepower (engine and electric motor) of at least 150hp - up from 110 horsepower in the current version - while marginally increasing fuel economy from the current Prius' 48 city/45 highway EPA numbers.

Toyota estimates they will build 480,000 Prius' annually worldwide when the next version is released. Toyota is also building two new battery plants in Japan with partner Panasonic with the expectation that these new plants will help Toyota to keep up with the growing demand for hybrid automobiles.
The styling is somewhat sleeker that the current Prius, through still easily recognized as a Prius. The larger size should increase rear seat and cargo space. It's not an exciting car IMHO, but it is highly efficient. I can only hope that the new model's handling has sharper reflexs than the current version. Your thoughts please, fellow hybrid-motorheads?
