This is for all the Astronomy buffs out there... Just a question. I recently read a short story that involved a vehicle traveling through the center of the sun. While the steps taken to cancel the effects of extreme temperatures, and even more extreme radiation were impressively plausible, one thing got me thinking.
I know that the state of matter throughout the sun is largely plasma. But is there any portion of the sun that is literally denser than any known solid? I would think so, given that it is a body whose diameter is greater than Cislunar space. The story didn't cover this, so I was left to wonder. Thanks in advance to anyone who knows. I haven't met with much success online.
