The entry-level front-engine RWD sedan has a lengthy hood with a short rear overhang, a rear hatch door instead of a traditional trunk lid with 911 styling, a front fascia that resembles a cross between the 911 and the Cayenne, and an interior that is rumored to feature four high-back bucket seats. The rear seat fold down for additional cargo space.

Under the hood, the Panamera will be powered by V6 and V8 engines ranging from 300 hp to 500 hp. Some of these engines will use turbochargers and direct-injection; the basic engines pieces will be sourced from VW/Audi with some Porsche sourced secondary parts. All-wheel drive along with "enhanced" V8 power (supercharged and/or turbocharged) will be standard on the top-end Panamera "S" model, and optional on lower-trim-level models. Six-speed manual or the seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmissions will be offered.
Porsche will assemble the Panamera at its Leipzig, Germany, plant using body shells built and painted at a Volkswagen plant in Hanover and engines from Porsche's plant in Zuffenhausen. Pricing estimates are set at $100,000 - $150,000 while the 500 horsepower Panamera "S" will be priced near $200K USD.

Porsche said it has a worldwide sales target of 20,000 Panameras a year.The Porsche Panamera 5-door sedan will make its public debut at the 2009 Geneva motor show.
What's your thoughts on the upcoming Panamera, Porsche enthusiasts? Is a five-door Porsche sedan "sacrilege" as some Porsche purists have stated?
