For Any Germans: I Need Some Help

Sat Nov 29, 2008 5:01 pm

My grandfather was born in Selm, a small town near Munster. I know the year he was born and that he has at least one brother, but they changed the spelling of their last name when they immigrated to the States. I looked at the official site for Selm, but it is all in German, which I do not read, yet. Is there an archivist I can get in touch with? I do not want to be disrespectful, so I want to click on the correct links and write to the right people.
Life in the wall is a drag.

You can try using the translator tool at Google Language Tools. It will translate whole web pages for you. I use it here in Germany, as my German is not fluent yet.

Quoting Seb146 (Thread starter):
correct links

-
write to
C.Koumoulidis@stadtselm.de
+
D.Holterbork@stadtselm.de
-
as the two persons are mentioned under "check-up for ancestors"
and so should be your partners
-
please write clearly and using full verbs and nouns and abstaining
from colloquialisms, as the first is partially Greek apparently and
the other one may not be an "internationalist" really, but I think
both understand English
-
Cheers
