Airliners.net Photo On Air Force One

Fri Dec 05, 2008 4:27 am

My friend sent me this video of a tour of Air Force One. At approximately 2:35 minutes left to the end of the video, they are discussing the phone panel on the computer screen. If you look at the bottom of the monitor, you can very clearly see it is an Airliners.net photo!

Interesting video. I didn't know that the Captain only serves one President.

Congrats to the photogapher who's photo is on there ...  bigthumbsup

Now THAT's a cool video! Interesting how Air Force One uses XP and a photo from A.net as its desktop background. I bet Jeroen Hensbergen feels proud  Wink

Indeed. Probably the best piece of journalism FOXNews has ever done.  duck

I like how, except for the EADI and EHSI, they've pretty much kept the standard 742 cockpit. There's nothing quite like old school.  biggrin

Yes, certainly is good; I guess it pays to be loyal; I can't see most other news stations getting that kind of access. That's not in any way to detract it was a very well done, accurate and fair report, so well done to that reporter.

If you want to read about a previous AF1 pilot, Col. Ralph Albertazzi wrote a book many, many years ago, when AF1 was a 707; well worth getting it (although it may be out of print now).

I do love the old Classic cockpit. Pity they couldn't have used that in Harrison Ford's AF1 movie, rather than the -400 cockpit they did use.

I guess the best thing about being President is that you can always ask for the jump seat; no one's going to cite FAA regulations to the President!

Sometimes true, sometimes not.

The pilot when I was at Andrews was Col Danny Barr and he served both Bush Sr & Clinton.

The position of Presidential pilot is not one that has a lot of potential for upward mobility, the guy retires out of the job. So, generally, he will retire on his schedule.

Ok, Jeroen wins Air Force One. Now, who's going to be the first to get their photo on display on the Space Shuttle or at NASA Mission Control?  eyebrow

Unless photos already have and we just don't know about it yet...  Smile

That was an excellent report, and worth every second of watching. What a neat machine, and so many of the questions I had about AF1 was answered. I was especially curious about what the Presidents sleeping quarters looked like. Very impressive!

Anyone notice the similarities in the cabin layout between the real one and the one in the movie Air Force One?
