The real question is how rich is Cindy Hensley McCain. The answer - uber wealthy! Her net worth is estimated at $100 Million USD.

One of the funniest lines of the campaign was his quip during a skit on "Saturday Night Live":

"I'm a true maverick, a Republican with no money."

Joe six pack here playin' a drinkin' game...."Maverick!"

DRINK!

Seriously tho...

John McCain came from money, but nothing like Cindy McCain. She's an Anheuser Busch offspring of some sort. Wikipedia her if you into money. Her financial history is WAY more colorful than John McCain's.

BTW, Bristol Palin's future mother-in-law is in jail for 6 felony drug charges. It just never stops.

He's wealthy but not insanely wealthy. He probably makes the same as any other high ranking politicians around the world.

His wife comes from a very wealthy family.

The truth is that in pretty much every country around the world the top leaders come from money or have large monetary assets they use to get elected. It's just a fact that has to be. How can you have an election campaign that stretches thousands of miles and hundreds of millions of people and not have money?

You need to have a political party behind you. None of the German chancellors was really wealthy or could finance even a tiny fraction of the campaign costs from his/her own assets.

The same goes for most countries in western Europe. The "money bag" would rather not get elected for that reason. AFAIK Obama does not own a fortune, if someone convinves the people with his/her personality and abilty to do the job, the money flows.

There's a lot of money to be made in the distribution of alcohol, so the wealth Cindy McCain has obtained as a result of the A-B distributorship her family has owned for many years is not all that surprising (Hensley & Co. in one of the largest A-B distributors in the US.) A-B distributorships are very highly prized; in some cases in the past, they've been given as gifts (Roger Maris was given one when he retired from baseball). The A-B distributor here in Atlanta got so big that they spun off one of their facilities into a separate company to handle part of their territory. The family that owns these two distributorships is pretty wealthy, as they've been an A-B distributor since 1944 and been in the distribution business since the end of Prohibition. You very rarely hear of an A-B distributorship being in any financial trouble. This is because A-B's products have such a significant percent of the marketplace that their products practically sell themselves. Even in these uncertain times, people will still drink beer/wine/spirits (in some cases, even more than when times are good).
