Anyone have the JVC GZMS100 videocamera ?

I am thinking of buying one as there is a sale on it where I live. The price is 290.438 USD

Is it a good buy ? Anyone have any experience with it ?

I have bought and returned a few camcorders this week for the above same problem. Using SD card the shots are in clips and to edit and join these clips, the mod files need to be converted to meg or avi (etc) for windows movie maker that alone takes more time than the actual length of the video just to get in the editable format. Then editing takes also similar time, in short, it takes more time than capturing from a DV tape, (unless I'm missing something or not using an expensive software that can edit mod directly). Playing mod is fine but to convert for editing is pain.
I finally bought a cheap Samsung that directly records to mp4 files that can be edited directly by movie maker and the files can directly be uploaded to youtube from the SD card it self if no editing is required. I find this more convenient and saves much time and is faster than a miniDV.

I even researched the HD formats of sony/panasonic AVHCD. People have a hardtime to just edit these formats especially the panasonic.

I bought a Samsung hard drive/SD camcorder on eBay. It is similar to what you are thinking about. I think it is great. I already have SD cards for my cell phone and still camera. Quality of my camera can be seen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDxJX-BKXUc. The only thing I do not like about mine is the video editing software, but I am sure I can find something better on the web.

I have an older model (3 years old) of the JVC digital video recorder, and I love it. The software that comes with it is very easy to use in regards to editing videos, adding special effects, titles, and compiling into mpg files that can be uploaded to youtube, facebook, or any other place you desire. While it does take a fair bit of time to compile the files from the native .mov format to .mpg format, it's a shortfall I can live with, as the video quality is pretty close to DVD quality. A small demo of mine can be seen at:

If you have any other questions, I'd be more than happy to help.
