The cold air isn't hitting Virginia till Friday, right now it is a balmy 31F out there. Friday's low temp is supposed to be down to the single digits.

I am not really sure the extra 15 degrees makes any difference. Either way that's really damn cold. I suggest you stay inside and find some activities to keep yourself warm.

-4 F?, dang here in KBUF I am enjoying a much nicer + 5.7 F (or so the weatherbug station located about 3/4 of a mile from here says)

The forecast was for much colder temps but it appears well will miss the -15 F temps that were forecast a few days ago. Oh well the high temps for the next few days are around 0 f to 5 F with 1 to 2 feet of snow over the couple of days.

I guess I will be a cold old man out there with the snowblower ...

Sorry to hear.

81F today, 79F tomorrow, was at the office in a T-shirt, shorts and flip flops.... Caught myself writing June instead of January on my checks...

Zippy faints.... stirs and nearly faints from the thought of having to wait 5 months to see temps like those..

Oh my, the weatherbug is up to 6.6 F (Windchill -9 F)

We are to get a glancing blow of the Arctic Clipper tonight single digits through tomorrow with temp climbing to normal range by Friday (45-50). I sure would not like to be sitting on a wing at a FBO fueling aircraft up your way.*

I drove to LAS today and it was beautiful. The sun came up and warmed things up to 60. After I shot all morning I got lunch and by 3pm it was 70. I drove back to IFP and the temp is 68 just after sundown. The Mojave is so sweeet!

Same here on Long Island. Except right now (at 8:40pm) it's 21°F with a wind chill of 15°F (throw in 1-3 inches of snow). Tomorrow it's supposed to be a high of 18°F and a low of 5°F.

It's dropped two degrees to -6 since I started this post....the coldest I was ever in was a recorded -51 deg. f in the winter of 1968 in New Hampshire-at least it was at the nearest weather station in Littleton. It was colder out in the Easton Valley where i lived.
It was so still and cold that when a car would go by on the road you could see the exhaust steam had turned to ice crystals and hung over the road like cotton puffs...

NIKV69, the desert's nice this time of year.

Weatherbug reports it's currently 61 degrees, and the high today was 70. The cold air moves in tomorrow, with the high only reaching 64.  Wink

You must be up north of here. The reports from ND and MN are as you would expect...I think I'd like to be in Duluth in a waterfront dive looking out at the lake.

I am about 200 miles north of Des Moines, in the land of 10,000 taxes. I can think of a few places in Duluth that fit the description. I don't mind the cold too much, but it does mess with the mind. Last night I was figuring out how much it would cost to make a set of studded tires for my motorcycle, and it seemed like a perfectly reasonable idea.

I graduated from UND, so I think I can call myself a pro when it comes to cold weather. The current temp in Grand Forks is -23, with a windchill of -44. Actually, for Grand Forks, -23 is fairly common in January or February. I think the lowest I saw while I was actually up there was around -38 or -39F. As far as I'm concerned, once you go below +10 degrees, it all feels the same... awful. It's funny thinking what you'd do not to have to walk somewhere -- like class, a party, a friend's house, etc... or having to warm up/defrost your car for 20 minutes before jumping in it, or... wanting to take a "nap" in a snowbank on a walk back from class because it's so cold. If I ever had to move anywhere north of Chicago in the Upper Midwest, I'd kill myself.

Right this minute it's -10 deg f/-23 deg. C. and relatively calm. It does odd stuff...it made the Dragon Lady's van spit up brake fluid....but it started fine.

Funny thing, fellas. This am it was -15 deg. f when I set out to take her to work and 90 per cent of the vehicles on the road were North American, Big 3 products, a few Toyotas, nary a VW or Audi or Benz to be seen and one lone Beemer. I was the only Mazda I saw, and it's a beater.

Stay warm up Canada way, friend.
