Honda's Venza Fighter Spied

Thu Jan 22, 2009 5:18 am

Temple of VTEC is showing photos taken by Brenda Priddy & Co of a Toyota Venza-like vehicle wearing a grafted Honda Accord front-end. Apparently in person the vehicle is very clearly not a US version of the european Accord Tourer (essentially an Acura TSX wagon).

I'm glad manufacturers are moving away from the SUV crazy and offering consumers a compromise between what they want and need. A large wagon (but smaller than an SUV) with a seating position higher than a traditional station wagon.

Here's some more news on the new Honda CUV - it may be named the "Honda Latitude".

"...the final product will be a few centimeters longer than the current European Accord Tourer. This development vehicle is also riding higher than a standard Accord Tourer and resembles somewhat an Audi allroad.

Based on the Honda Accord chassis, this all-new vehicle will start production in the 4th quarter of 2009 at the Marysville or East Liberty factory. We've been told to expect a concept vehicle that foreshadows this new Accord CUV at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show. The Accord CUV will slot in-between CR-V and Pilot and will look to do battle with Toyota's new Venza.

One thing we can say for sure about this vehicle is that AWD will be an option. The prototype we shot had a rear differential. More than likely, this means this Honda has the VTM-4 AWD system."

It's nice to see the "station wagon" make a comeback!

Well nothing showed up at the Detroit show. Should be interesting to see. I'd also like to see if Acura's X6 fighter makes it to production.

Sort of reminds me of the Dodge Magnum. Depending on the engine/transmission package, it could be a great car. I will be keeping an eye on it, as my current ride is on borrowed time.

What's Honda's deal? Are they resorting to copy cat designing?
