Youtube Question

Mon Jan 26, 2009 10:04 pm

I have been trying to upload a video on Youtube. It is taking forever to upload. The video is some 300+ MB in size.

My internet connection is not quite fast. About 6 Megs maybe 8 Megs at best. Is it normal that it takes hours for the video to upload on the Youtube site? I am not running any other "heavy" files in the meawhile. It really seems like a never ending process!

Thanks a lot in advance for your answers.

Isn't there a 100mb limit?

If so, that's why it won't upload. Usually it's very fast but if it's a bigger than allowed video, it won't upload.

I don't know... I'm just a youtube viewer.

Yes there is, unless Madameconcorde has been upgraded to director - but even me with my 5m video views have not been given that option - it used to be available on signup - alas I didn't tick the box.

Madame, this may be the reason it isnt working -there is a 100mb or 10 minute upload limit.

Cheers,

Alex

Thank you very much for your insight and comments.

From what I see on Youtube.com

* Upload up to 10 videos at a time
* Best video formats for YouTube
* Up to 1 GB in size.

I knew about the 10 minutes limits. I don't think my video outpasses this time limit.

From a forum a user says that uploading a video can take the whole day.  Wow!

That's your download...upload speeds are much, much slower. 300mb can take half a day in some cases...plus more time for Youtube to process it once it 's up..

Success! It works!  cheerful

This video is unpretentious and done with a simple Panasonic "tourist" camera.  camera

Now this is the link to the video so you can all see it. It was last night's fireworks in Monaco from high up on the hill.
