Former Heavyweight Champion of the World, Ingemar Johansson died the night between 30 and 31 of January 2009. He will be missed, but more honored for his accomplishment. I wasn't born when he fought his matches against Floyd Patterson, but the three World Title matches, one won, two lost, are part of Swedish National Heritage. Johansson, like most Swedish boxers, adapted his style of boxing to the nature of his opponent. Clean hard boxing against guys like Patterson, and down-right fierce against "monsters" like Eddie Machen who was the Number One Contender before Johansson. He lost an Olympic Silver Medal from 1952 for passivity but it was restored thirty years later.
Like I said in the Thread name: The Champ is dead, 76 years old.
