Ok, so I'll probably be mocked for asking this, but:
Anyone have suggestions for finding a decent shrink?
Before I moved to Ohio (about 3.5 years ago) I was seeing a psychologist (LCSW) and psychiatrist that I was initially "dragged" to by my dad as part of his remarriage. While I initially resisted, I actually found it quite beneficial after several weeks and a ADHD and General Anxiety diagnosis that explained quite a lot and really helped [my only "A" in college from a professor I wasn't buddy-buddy with came while I was on medication...When I got that grade I realized how much better things had gotten].
Anyway, I moved to Ohio to pick up a job that I love, let the prescription lapse (and apparently the psychiatrist fell off the face of the earth), and have been cruising along for the past few years...
But lately some events have happened and I'm thinking that I should see someone... I've been feeling a little...um... unbalanced? I guess. I don't want to call it depression, but it comes kind of close... like I'm not really in control. Plus I'm having an extraordinarily difficult time keeping myself focused, I'm letting things slip through the cracks that normally wouldn't, etc., etc., etc.
How does one find a decent shrink these days? I found my ophthalmologist by asking my boss, but I don't think any of my coworkers are mentally unsound (how many people can say that?)... plus I think sharing a mental health professional could be a bit more awkward than sharing an eye doc.
I'm in Cleveland, Ohio which certainly has it's share of physical health groups (MetroHealth, The Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, etc.) but I'm not even sure where to begin for mental health, and grabbing the yellow pages seems like a bad start.
Ok enough rambling -- and any and all responses (even those that mock me for asking here) are appreciated
