Photo Sharing Sites

Mon Mar 09, 2009 4:52 am

Does anyone have suggestions for their favorite photo sharing sites? I've used several sites including Snapfish, Photobucket, Kodak Gallery and Picasa. Some of the issues I've found include storage limits and ease of posting for a.net trip reports. Any recommendations for easy to use sites with unlimited storage, easy sharing with friends, and easy links for posting trip reports? Thanks.

I'm happy with Photobucket, I haven't tried anything else.

I may be wrong, but I'm not aware of any free hosting sites that offer unlimited storage.

I currently use pbase.com, but wouldn't recommend it to a new user.

If I was starting over again, I'd probably use zenfolio.com. Their site is easy to use and the gallery layouts and themes are first-rate. Their basic account (about $25/year) gives you 1gb of storage and unlimited bandwith for linking. With the basic account you also receive an additional 1gb of storage each year you stay with them. Unlimited storage is offered at a higher annual charge.

I've been using SmugMug for a few years now, and am very satisfied with it. A basic account is $40/year (but I can give you a discount code...) and it allows virtually unlimited storage and bandwidth - I think they officially list it as 1 terabyte of storage. It's easy to set up and use, customer service is outstanding (it's a family run business, and most non-family employees came from the user community).
