Unusual Firefox Problems

Mon Mar 30, 2009 3:53 am

Okay, here's the scoop. I have Firefox 3.0.8 on my computer and just recently something happened - don't know what happened - but let's say once I close out this Firefox window and then go open a new window, I seem to always have to log into EVERY site that I used to have automatic log-ins for (My Yahoo!, Facebook, YouTube, A.net, etc.). I use My Yahoo! as my home page and am hating every time having to log back in. I've done the following and none of which has fixed this problem:

- Reinstalled Firefox
- Uninstalled Firefox, then installed it
- Removed all of my saved passwords, then started putting some back in
- Cleaned out all of my saved data, i.e. history, cookies, cache, etc.

It's really aggravating! What happened, and better yet, what can I do to fix this?

Try this:

Tools>Options>Security

Make sure the box is checked next to "Remember passwords for sites." If it is, click the exceptions tab to the right and see if anything is in there.

What about going to Tools>Options>Privacy? All boxes should be checked there too. Private data section is more of a preference, however if those boxes are checked, make sure when you are closing Firefox and clearing data, that the box next to saved passwords is NOT checked. Also, are you using any ad-ons or extensions?

It was an issue relating to cookies. A friend of mine suggested it could be the YOOG search engine taking over, but it wasn't. What I did was to go into my Firefox profile folder and deleted both the cookies.sqlite and the cookies.txt files. Upon opening Firefox again, I had to log back in, which I expected, and then closed the window. Opened a new Firefox window, and My Yahoo!, which is my home page, showed me as logged in.

To get to the profiles folder, I typed in %APPDATA% the Start Menu search bar, clicked on Roaming, Mozilla, Firefox, Profiles, went into that profile folder, and deleted the said files.

Firefox is also acting up on my computer, this is after I downloaded the latest version.

It asks me if I want to bookmark the page just about every time I open a new window.  Wow!
There was a better way to fly it was called Concorde
