Since when do we live in a society in which everybody is assumed to use or have used drugs?

I don't think that posting an answer is compulsory!!

I don't remember the first song I got high to, but I do have flashbacks to the first time I got so totally drunk that I was incapable of speech whenever I hear a "Europop" song called Dolce Vita by Ryan Paris! Ibiza 1983...happy days!!

Oh My God people, if you're not gonna answer the question asked then don't bother posting.  Yeah sure

Only ever listened to music once while high...I think it was Money by Pink Floyd. I just sat at my computer completely zoned out staring at the wall. I've also watched Saw 5...that was fun. My friend kept getting freaked out at sudden movements in the movie. Me...I just sat there and started laughing for no reason at random times. lol

I do have a hazy memory (a warm and fuzzy memory) of an Alice Cooper Show from around 1977-78. The song "Billion Dollar Babies" was the high point of the evening.

From around 1981 The Boys Next Door song "Shivers" was played at a party that that had so many chemicals in attendance that the results caused me to swear off illicit drugs till this day. (The odd Vodka and Tang is my only "vice")

Ever been drunk? Alcohol is far, far worse for you than weed, but many people here seem to think admitting to smoking pot is a terrible sin while it's pretty much ok to get buzzed or drunk with some regularity. Personally, I don't sell it and I only do it with friends on occasion, but its legal status for me is a joke because cigarettes and alcohol are legal, yet they are much more destructive.

Not that smoking a little weed here and there is anything wrong, but it does remain a slippery slope towards harder drugs for the weakest amongst us.

Anyway, different debate.

Maybe in the immediate future, physically, yes. But for paranoia, psychosis, delusions, it's regular cannabis use and not regular alcohol consumption which will really ruin your life. That's why it was recently reclassified here in the UK.

Lemme see... It was 1990, I was 15 and I was with my older brother. Though I really don't remember (I was pretty toasted, I remember that) it had to be something by Motley Crue or Pantera.

I don't smoke it any more. The last couple of times I did, it only made me stupid and hungry. It seemed so much better in college.

My ex works for the National Institute of Health in DC and does addiction research, she focuses on weed because she's a bit of a pothead and she's always been interested in its effects on the brain both short term and long term. According to her, regular long term weed usage will not cause any of the effects you mention, but if you have any research that claims otherwise I'd be glad to see it!

Well, she would say that, if the following is true:

Quoting Waterpolodan (Reply 27):

You should see the government anti-weed advertising campaigns going on here at the moment, quoting those symptoms among others. There's been lots of research into it, but it is often argued both ways.

However, it depends on your definition of 'regular' - smoking a spliff every couple of weeks probably won't damage you significantly, whereas habitual chainsmoking might make you see the world very differently in not very much time.

Now I'm 'pro-choice' on the drugs thing, but all I mean to say is that drugs affect you psychologically when abused... like everything else - but most probably in worse ways than alcohol.

Not much evidence of that. The most common gateway drug is alcohol. The current generation seems quite happy to go directly from alcohol to meth or crack.

All the more reason to legalize it.

You are a case in point.

Who didn't?

Yes, several a.net prudes didn't, but at least 50% of the people I know did.

Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon album, OMG i got some freaky images in my head!

Two things i remember i said, "I don't think i can drive home." I was hanging out at a friend's place at the time, he said, "why?" I said, "because i'm stoned!" and "Is this how it feels when you die?" the funny thing about being stoned, i couldn't feel my feet at all.

All the more reason to legalize it.

You are a case in point.

A highly educated doctor who smoked some weed in college.

I agree completely. However, guess what? 'Tain't legal yet. And until it is, I'm not talking about it.

LOL! One of my first experiences with weed was seeing Blue Oyster Cult while stoned (and getting more stoned) in the late 70s. I still can't hear "Don't Fear The Reaper" without my head spinning.

Awesome!
I wish I was older back in the 70s to really enjoy that time as an adult. I was just a little kid during the 70s.

Unfortunately, didn't get to experience the first high with music in the background, considering I was in the 7th grade and we had to huddle behind the house to smoke that sweet sweet cheeba.

By age 13, I was a regular smoker, had already been drunk on more than one occassion and was already dabbling in light drug use. Pretty sad if you think about it.

That's boring small town life for you.
