Who Cares About F1......

Wed Apr 08, 2009 6:41 pm

the MotoGP season is going to start this weekend in Qatar. F1 has been dead for me for a very long time, the last time I found F1 interesting was the epic battles between Prost, Mansell and Senna, you know the era when people did actually overtake, when there really was a championship rather than an event where as now usually the person on pole wins barring incident.

Now back to MotoGP last season was epic, this season is shaping up to be another cracker with Stoner heading most of the times in testing, however who would count out Rossi, the greatest GP rider of all time to win his 9th championship.

Good man!

However... last year WAS Rossi's 8th championship....

World Championships
125cc - 1997
250cc - 1999
500cc - 2001
MotoGP - 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008
After Monday and Tuesday even the calendar says WTF...

Rossi with his 8 motor bike world championships is even better than Michael Schumacher with his 7 WDCs in Formula 1. Nuff said.  Wink

I remember watching Rossi when I was around 8 or 9 years old on Eurosport when I was living in Germany and have tried to keep track of his career since. That man is an awesome racer. I've heard around that Michael Schumacker drives a couple of very nice Ferrari's as well as a few other cars in his private life. I'm afraid to ask what Rossi rides around bike wise in his private life. Boy would I sure like to take a tour of that garage...  Smile

If you like MotoGP, fine. But why put down F1? I'm a hockey fan, but I don't start threads by bashing basketball, a sport that bores me to tears.

In all honesty, this has changed a lot in the last two years. Lewis Hamilton won the Championship by just one point last year, and it was pretty close to slipping by him until the last moments of the last race of the season. This new season is certainly bringing some novelty to the championship and it looks like it's going to be an interesting race between contenders who nobody would even bet a dollar on last year...

You can say what you want about the FIA and its leather-loving guru Mosley and all of the under the table workings that the sport could do without, but boring it isn't, anymore.

And no matter how hard it tries, moto GP will never offer the media coverage F1 does, unfortunately.

That's not a put down at all. The F1 threads are hardly supporting the "sport" right now, are they?

Well in the two races so far this year it's been the bloke on pole who has won, somewhat traditional for F1, the only major difference between this year and the past is that the cars look different and it hasn't been a Ferrari or McLaren winning the races.

But we have seen a lot more overtaking during these 2 GPs.

Have you read the title of the thread? I like bike racing, I used to do it myself. It's fun to watch. So is F1, to me. I just got a bit niggled at this thread, because like countless others, it tries to make one thing look good by putting down another.

Moto GP is so much more exciting than F1

Moto GP is 80% rider skill and 20% material

F1 is 80% material and 20% driver skill

I could care less about the drivers... It's all about the technical aspects of the cars for me.

MotoGP qualifying is live on TV now, this is the first time we have had live qualifying here! Looks great under the lights.

F1 is actually competitive again, so it's been fun. I just can't stand the constant politicking of Mosley and Ecclestone.

Those involved are fans at heart, but are not happy with the direction the sport seems to be heading in recent years along with a few controversial decisions, but keep such discussion to those threads.
