Florida Home Burglary Caught On Camera Inside Home

Mon Apr 13, 2009 5:18 am

This occured in Boynton Beach, Florida (in between West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale). I'm thinking the lady installed one of those Logitech WiLife cameras.

Lessons learned:
-Consider installing an electronic dog door. If this is her 2nd home invasion, something is not adding up here.

Concerns:
-What if the robbers took the computer? She stated the feed is recorded onto the hard drive.
-Could hackers potentially view the webcam from their computers? How does one protect against this?
-What about privacy laws? Currently, a homeowner who installs a security camera outside the home must have a visible sign stating that the property is monitored via security camera. Should the same occur inside the home? The goals are to detract would-be robbers from selecting the property to rob.

And finally, congratulations to the super-fast response by the BBPD.

There's also a slightly extended version of the video on CNN.com.

Are you kidding me? Inside your home is private property. As far as I'm concerned thieves who enter forego the right to privacy.

Well done to the woman for setting that up, also to the police for such a quick response time.
