Holiday Ideas..........

Sat Apr 25, 2009 9:25 am

Hi Guys and Girls

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of where I could go on holiday in May.
Im airline staff and have some confirmed Business class tickets to travel on so want to try and travel longhaul. Im awaiting confirmation of my wifes leave but Im trying to get some ideas of where to go.
I will be travelling with my Wife and my 1 year old daughter so I need a destination thats going to be Infant friendly.

Destination wise Im not fussed if its a beach destination or a city, just as long as its not freezing cold  Smile

So, any ideas???

If you have confirmed tickets then why not push the boat out and go to Oz - might as well get your "money's" worth, so to speak. Big grin

The Mrs can only get enough time for 8 or 9 days off work. Ive got 3 wks and Oz was one of my first thoughts cos we've got family over there as well

I would say Australia or South Africa, as far as being infant friendly I do not think that should be a concern. They are too young to enjoy Disney World or anything along those lines, so as long as there is not a civil war I think it would be ok  Smile.... Maybe try coming to Vancouver!

How about Florida? I know ZBBYLW said that the kids were too young, but in my opinion, your daughter might be the perfect age for Disney and Kennedy Space Center. Also, check out the bahamas.

Houston can be your base for international travel. If you do San Antonio I suggest you also add Austin. That right there is a good 7-8day trip! BBQ and Tex-Mex food are not to be missed when you visit Texas!  yummy  If you've got specific questions, feel free to PM me.

I mention Houston because I like to know people's impressions and reactions of the city before and after they visit.

checkmark  Probably one of the most beautiful cities in the world. And I give free tours of YVR and local bars  Smile Also well worth renting a car and driving through the Rockies (detour via the Okanagan if you can) and fly back from YYC.

If you go to Houston and miss Austin, it will be a shame.

I offer my home town San Diego, CA or my current residence Shanghai as options.

Since you have a 1 year old, you have some limits. Perhaps NY City? Not that far to travel from the UK, plenty to see and do. You can stay in New Jersey and take the PATH trains or bus to the city. The weather in NY City is pretty good in May. If in NY City, you could go to the Bronx Zoo to keep the kid happy.

Yeah San Francisco is always a great experience, and Santa Monica near the beach is wonderful this time of year. My Wife and I stayed at the Le Merigot in Santa Monica a few years ago, we had the best time at that wonderful property. Only downside was Margaritas by the pool were $24.00 each.

If you go to America you'll be standing in an immigration queue for one of your 8 days. Not a good idea either with infants especially with the pig virus they have now.

What about Japan. In J class its a breeze. It's clean, civilised and really interesting.

Base yourself in Tokyo or better still Kyoto. Buy a Japan rail pass before you go and travel around. You can have a city holiday and come back feeling invigorated.
and with that..cabin crew, seats for landing please.
