When Will Companies Start Hiring Again?

Wed May 06, 2009 3:55 pm

I know it is too early to tell, but I graduate in a year and a half or 2 years and its of great interest to me as it should be to anyone who has lost their job. I suspect once all the economic problems are shrouded and become the past, that most investment companies will rehire once again at a substantial pace.

There are always companies hiring. It just depends on what industry you are in, where you are located, or how much you are willing to change your industry/location to find an opportunity. I was reading in my alumni newsletter this week that recruitment of graduating engineering seniors have fared better this year than during the 2000-2002 dot com bubble.

Provided you are studying something that actually has a real career path (and not some wall-hanging like sociology), then you will be fine 1.5-2 years from now.
