Turning Point Against Taliban In Pakistan?

Fri Jun 12, 2009 3:39 am

We can only hope.

A two-minute video of a woman being held down and beaten by an alleged member of the Taliban has apparently sparked outrage in that nation, and a reconsidering by many who once supported the Taliban.

We can only hope that this helps Pakistan forces gain the upper hand in the Swat Valley, as even villagers are starting to openly fight the Taliban. If they can be pushed out of Pakistan, and back into Afghanistan, they can, hopefully, be put in a pincer between U.S. Coalition forces in Afghanistan and Pakistani forces in that nation.

Somewhere in that areas, if he's alive, perhaps bin Laden will finally face the music.

I am not prepared to go that far yet.

Like it or not the Pakistani media is much more controled then the US media, which give the Pakistani Army has a distinct advantage.

They don't have to worry about their own reporters playing down their successes and up enemy successes.

The US media has killed a lot of US soldiers by encouraging the Taliban and Iraqi insurgents by doing just that.
OBAMA-WORST PRESIDENT EVER....Even SKOORB would be better.

One of the greatest, most incredible falsehoods I've ever read on here. I'll let it pretty much sink of it's own dishonor.

What an amazingly ignorant statement.

I am sitting in Pakistan at the moment and the public perception on the taliban is certainly changing big time, even the moderates among the population have totally turned against the taliban insurgency due to the damage it is causing to the pakistani economy and safety. The tide has really turned against them, now it remains to be seen how long it takes for the army to take down the insurgency.

There are more pakistani private news channel than u can count on your fingers and they have incredible freedom when reporting. The best example was the way Mushraff allowed these pvt channels to bloom and how later on they turned against him when he went against the constitution. They report what they see on the ground and not what the army wants them to report.

The ignorance in this statement is shocking at every level possible.
