2009 US Open At Bethpage Black

Sat Jun 20, 2009 3:43 pm

I was shocked that even by Day Three (well still Round 2 of play), there hasn't been a thread for the US Open.

My family has tickets for the Open and we're up here in New York. We went to Wednesday's practice round and again yesterday, which included the conclusion of Round 1 and the beginning of Round 2. We're taking the day off today to rest and will be heading back tomorrow for what should have been the final round but could very well be only the conclusion of Round 3. Fortunately we can go Monday to see the finale.

Woods is +4 after his first round and is in danger of missing the cut. Mickelson is hanging in there near the top but has his work cut out for him if he's going to finally win the US Open. Rocco Mediate is surprising the crowd and showing that he's back to still fight for the title and that last year's battle with Tiger Woods was no fluke. Who's your pick to win this year? Although Woods was certainly the favorite going in, most of the crowd seems to be behind Mickelson this year, showing their support for him and his wife. At every hole he's been receiving a standing ovation as he walks up to the green and he's always been tipping his cap and waving to the crowd to show his grattitude.

PS: The best part about going to the US Open at Bethpage is watching the arrivals into Kennedy and Republic.  bigthumbsup

Have always wanted to go to an Open, and was going to get tickets, but then I saw that the weather was going to be the way it is, and decided against it.
