Dispatches: Terror In Mumbai. WOW

Tue Jun 30, 2009 9:08 pm

Just watched the Dispatches documentary on the terrorist attack in Mumbai last year and it was truly saddening and very eye opening, some amazing footage, interviews, interrogation, telephone calls, all from a very enlightening angle. I would highly recommend its viewing.

I was very saddened by how stupid the attackers were, taking instruction from some twat. To think how in awe they were of The Taj Hotels beauty but on the other side being on a rampage to cause as much carnage as possible, it is just beyond me.

My thoughts go out to all those people who have been affected and to the sad loss of so many innocent lives.

I hope we get to see it in the US soon, too. Unfortunately ( or fortunately) Indian law enforcement got a bad eye in the world press. How did they fare in the documentary?

A few weeks ago I read in a BBC news article that the Taliban have lost a lot of support in Pakistan. Apparently before people would think of them as a non-corrupt alternative to the various corrupt feudal families, who traditionally run Pakistani politics or the military.
But after the Taliban took over ruling the Swat Valley, a formerly popular skiing resort in the mountains not too far from Islamabad, they could see Taliban politics in action.
What apparently shocked many Pakistanis was a video showing the Taliban sadistically whipping a young woman for some minor transgression and the gloating comments of the Taliban who held her down and beat her.
Also Taliban propaganda videos on how the Taliban aimed to set new rules, no music, women locked up at home, all men forced to wear beards etc., followed by brutal enforcement, put the Pakistanies off.
Then there where propaganda videos with Taliban leaders in the Swat Valley claiming the next step would be to bring all of Pakistan under pure Islamic rule, followed by the rest of the world.
As a result many Pakistanis supported the Pakistani Army in driving the Taliban out of the Swat valley.

India has been a victim of Cross border terror for over a Decade.but 26/11 was the breaking point. It united the country against these terror organisations & boycotted the politicians for in action.

The next elections brought a Majority government in power & one can see the tough talk now.

It was a sad day in Mumbai that night. If only the citizens had weapons, the attack would have ended in minutes.

But all Indians irrespective of Religon are united in its fight against terror.

Indeed, a shocking, stunning, piece of television.

Please, have the Indian Police equipped with something better than Lee Enfield WW1 bolt action rifles with half full magazines and pistols.

What also stood out was how ignorant, unworldly (and of course totally manipulated) the terrorists were.

A pattern repeated again and again. Just a pity the Bali bombers did not have to use a map to find Bali, they would never have arrived.

The Caliphate merchants have clearly never learned much history either or they would not be seeking a new version.

Presumably, keeping the bastards ignorant is one of the reasons for the ban on TV by the Talibs. Just a pity someone cannot figure out in the Koran where guns and explosives are banned, there must be a passage (or three) that can be taken to have that meaning.
