Running Of The Bulls In New Orleans '09

Sun Jul 12, 2009 5:27 pm

This past weekend saw the 3rd annual "San Fermin in Nueva Orleans".

The link below has some pictures from the event, which doubled in size from last year, to over 1,000 participants.

Needless to say, I wouldn't mind letting those "bulls" run me over.  Wink

My views on bullfights in particular, and traditions in general.

Way to honor a barbaric pasttime, New Orleans. What is next, the "delapidation of the adulterous woman in New Orleans", with papier-mache rocks?

I tend to agree with that. But let's face it, it's still popular. And leave it to the people of New Orleans to "spoof" something...the city has long been known for its satire.

Rollergirls are safer than bulls, at the very least.

I take it you don't observe Easter then?

For what it's worth, part of Danish midsummer tradtition includes burning a "witch" made from various materials on the bonfire, sending her off to Brocken.

What foreign tradition? There are bullfights and bullruns in Portugal as well, and nothing would make me more glad than seeing them be banned.

And therefore destroy an important part of a nation's history and culture for some bulls that are gonna end up in the butcher anyways?

we should just let the bulls run the streets. We would only have to run away from them...oh wait.

What important part of a nation's history and culture? Just like delapidation is an important part of Saudi Arabia? You moral relativist types never cease to amaze me The notion that just because someone out there is doing it then it must be right must be a b*tch when you are on the receiving end of something, though - then suddenly it is not a tradition anymore.

And if you refuse to see the difference between killing an animal for food and torturing it for hours straight while making its death a public spectacle for retarded farm-boys then you are beyond a rational discussion.
