Notice all the answers it picks are multiples of 9

Anything the US and EU build the Russians do it better! i.e. TU-144 vs Concorde and TU-154 vs The 727...

Every time you do the math part, you will end up with a number that is a multiple of 9. All the multiples of 9 are, of course, labeled as the same gift.

Sorry I ment like. Subtract any two Double digit numbers like it says and divide the number by 9 so it all works by shuffling I can't remember exactly but I figured it out one night.

There's something similar out there. I did the trick on my wife a few months back and it baffled her until i told her the secret. I think the link was posted on here. It was done by two guys and they explain how to trick the other person. If i find it i'll post it.

with regards to this thread, am i correct to assume there's a 1 in 9 chance that the computer "picks" the right number? I'm still having trouble understanding. and i thought i was a fairly bright guy.

I think when you do the math described - the answer will always be a member of a set of number - and that "set" will always have the same randomly generated response.

The only answers that are possible are: 9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72, 81. Those squares will always have the same 'prize', thus the trick.

No. If you do the math right, it will always land you on a multiple of 9. All multiples of 9 have the same gift. There's no guessing involved.

I'll try to show you:

Lets say Z is a two digit number, and X is the tens digit of Z, and Y is the ones digit of Z. So, the value of Z = 10*X + Y.

Now, it says subtract the value of X from Z, then subtract the value of Y from Z. What do you get?

Z - X - Y

(10*X + Y) - X - Y [Substituting for Z]

10*X - X + Y - Y [Regrouping terms]

(10*X - X) + (Y - Y) [Reparenthesizing terms]

(9*X) + (0) [Simplifying]

9*X [Result]

Therefore, the result will ALWAYS be 9 times the first digit. All multiples of 9 have the same "gift" and thus, it will appear to read your mind, but it's really just math.

Example: You pick 25: Z=25, X=2, Y=5

Z = 10*2 + 5

Z - X - Y = 25 - 2 - 5

(10*2 + 5) - 2 - 5 = 18

9*2 = 18

The code for the numbers is randomly assigning the gift each time you run the script, so there will always be a different Gift for you, that will amazingly match the only possible answer you can give, assuming your math skills are up to par

The calculation basis of this app is the same as any number of tricks. E.g.

Choose a number between 1 and 10.

Multiply this number by 9.

Add the two digits together. So, 18 would give 1 + 8 = 9.

Subtract 5 from your answer.

Associate your number with a letter from the alphabet. e.g. A = 1,B = 2, etc.

Think of a country beginning with that letter.

Think of an animal where the first letter of the animals name is the last letter of the country's name. For example, England ends with "d", so you can associate that with "dog".

Think of a color where the first letter of the color's name is the last letter of the animals name.

Try it 98% of the time you will likely get:
