Where Did These Photos Come From?

Thu Aug 06, 2009 4:36 am

Today I got one of those ANNOYING "FWD" emails from a friend of mine. You know, those stupid emails containing pictures, conspiracy theories, warnings, and other useless, time-wasting material, that friends forward to you (who knows where these come from...)?

Today's FWD email contained two photos (shown below), purporting to be from inside the cabin of the Air France A330 (AF447) that crashed whilst flying Rio to Paris. The story about the photos said that a passenger stood up--whilst the plane was breaking up around him (!) and took the two pictures in his final moments.

Then I got really suspicious. The photos (see below), first of all, show the interior of a Boeing 747 "classic"--note the small overhead bins, and the tail (falling off the aft end of the plane) is a 747 tail. This is no AF A330! Besides, the colours and logo on the tail are not AF--or any recognisable airline. The livery looks like one in a movie.

Besides, who would have the wits about them, at the moment their airplane is blowing up around them and people and luggage are being blown out, to stand up--much less point a camera and shoot their final moments? Never mind the explosive decompression would have blown them out the minute they stood up--along with their camera. Would a memory stick even survive "burial at sea"?

This leads me to believe that the two photos are from some kind of movie featuring an air disaster--it looks fake and staged. What movie do these come from? (I don't think "Final Destination"--that crash was at night.)

So, where do these come from? A movie?

And, where do these stupid FWD emails come from? It is so stupid, and annoying, for someone to start one of these, but the people who forward these on and on to all their friends are just as guilty of blindly, and stupidly, following along like lemmings...

Not to mention, this is blatantly wrong, using a tragedy like AF447 to get attention like this and to fool people!

Here are the two photos:

Quoting SmithAir747 (Thread starter):
So, where do these come from? A movie?

They are scenes from ABC's Lost, specifically the series premier.
I lift things up and put them down.

This was discussed in thread 4 or 5 of 21 (22?) on the Air France crash. If you do not watch Lost, another dead give away would be.... it is daylight in those pictures. Air France crashed in the middle of the night/early morning.

You may also see the same photos claiming they are from a camera found after the GOL / Legacy collision in Brazil.

Gee..... Air France crashed into the Atlantic in the middle of the night. These photos show daylight "outside".

You'd think they'd change the tail on photo #1 to an AF tail or anything but Oceanic...
I convert Jet A and 100LL into noise.
