Finally! Ashes To Ashes On ABC1 Australia.

Fri Aug 07, 2009 2:04 pm

Just when I thought we weren't going to get it ABC1 is advertising Ashes to Ashes for next Monday at 9.35 pm.

Definitely have to watch it!

On again tonight.

Funny thing is I've had the whole of Series 1 for a fair while now but haven't watched it but after watching Episode 1 last week we watched the whole Series 1 over the weekend. It gets better Episode by Episode.

I take it you've seen the Life on Mars series. This was the prequel to Ashes to Ashes. If not you have to watch that also. There are 2 series. Excellent viewing.

True but so far I am thinking that Life on Mars was better, or was it just more interesting seeing reconstructions of the 70s? Somehow the theme of arriving in the wrong time is not quite as catching the second time around.

Those thickheads in the station are just as amazing as ever, rather Shakespearean in some ways. Probably better in some ways than DCI Hunt. But they have had their predecessors in many series.

Life in Mars was much better.  yes  IMHO Ashes to Ashes is more of a romp through the eighties.

There was a US version of Life on Mars that had a clever ending but the series was canceled.

One problem might be that so far, plonking a rather nice looking lady into the realms of Gene is less convincing that dumping Sam back where he did not quite belong.

I think I saw the end of the UK Life on Mars but am still trying to work it out. I think they would be better just dumping them in the past and forgetting about getting back to the noughties. Quite amusing seeing the old BBC TV news though.

What couldn't you work out? Episode 1 of ATA gave you even more information about Sam's suicide and "life" returning to 1973 and putting the car into the river in 1980 with no body being found.

Ah! Well I missed the first episode of ATA or at least part of it, not sure what I thought it was. All a bit hazy now what happened to Sam, perhaps I too am in a time warp, probably from about 1962 or maybe 1954, the year when I took eight fer (twice)!!!

Not wrong there, one included a four in four - first four bowled, which always astonishes me in retrospect. I was so surprised when the guy was not out of the fifth ball!!

I remember being on the end of something like that twice.

Once we were all out for 14 or something like that playing what used to be called the Opportunity School and they only used two bowlers who shared the wickets evenly. I say in our defence that most of them were over 18 (that is essentially physically Adults) and none of us were over 13 (that is kids).

The other time was a much more even affair in terms of age and I forget what we made (much more than the above but still not a great total) but the wickets were shared again between only two of their bowlers to the tune of one got 7 and the other got 3. The guy who got 7 bowled immaculate line and length.

The 5th test (of 2009) is getting a bit like that.
