Shooting An Outdoor Concert-Advice

Fri Aug 21, 2009 12:59 am

Tomorrow I'll be heading out with my friends to see Blink-182 in concert. It says cameras are allowed so Im going to try and bring in my 350D and 70-200. We're going to be kinda far away from the stage, in the cheap seats. But any tips for getting good shots at an outside concert, at night? Thanks.
Doors open, right hand side, next stop is Springfield.

Tripod probably won't get through security/it is too bulky anyway. I would say don't forget to spot meter off the face of the singer/band and get a good exposure setting and leave it in manual, adjusting here and there. If you let it autoexpose, even in spot-meter, there is a high probability that it might get confused and the large amounts of black from the night will cause it to try and over-expose.
