Remember, something is only offensive if you allow it to offend you.

That being said, the ad is in bad taste.

 Smile

too soon?

They had a whole series like these. When our public enemy number 1 escaped, they had an ad showing him running away from two policemen reading the magazine, with the same tagline as above.

And this is another one they did

"voelt u nattigheid" literally translates as "feeling something wet?" it means "do you feel there's trouble ahead"?

This one was to promote a free showercap they gave with the next issue  Smile (they're known for the silly gifts)

Didn´t find them offensive at all. Granted, you´d have to crap in my face to offend me.

Not offensive perse, but in bad taste and incredibly insensitive to those who lost family members in the tragedy. I am not a big believer in the "15 year rule" and stuff for jokes and satire, but using a national tragedy that killed thousands to sell some magazine doesn't fall under my idea of what is okay.

That picture is hilarious. There is nothing in this world worth taking offense over.

The picture is slightly funny but the literal translation of this phrase is bloody hilarious!

As to the ad in the initial post, perhaps it should have been some other landmark the pilots of an aircraft engrossed in the magazine instead of the WTC towers, like a famous mountain. I also find the ones referencing the assination of JFK and to bin Laden to be in VERY bad taste. What if it the pilots were heading for the Big Ben clock tower at Parlament, or Princess Diana in the tunnel just before she was killed? I be our UK friends would be VERY pissed. It sounds like those connected with this rag mag have a very sick sense of humor, kinda like MOL of Ryanair fame.

Here's a TV ad they did with Mel Smith... sensitive people might want to switch off the sound, they use the F word ! Oh no ! THE F WORD !

And here are two more "offensive" ads:

Not offensive, but not funny either. It sort of strikes me as something Jr High kids whose parents have photoshop would do. Sort of a lowest common denomenator for humor.

It reminds me of RADAR Magazine, before it went bust and became a crappy gossip site.

They used to have controversial covers like that. Their first was Bush giving Paris Hilton a Medal of Honor, then it was Tom Cruise as St. Sebastian, then it was a shirtless Prince Harry with a beer in hand wearing a crown, and this one that got censored on newstands

If you opened the cover it had a fold out of Romney in Mormon temple garments watching them.

No, sorry, as far as I'm concerned it's just good old fashioned satirical humour.

Some people may find it offensive, but if you are one of the people who genuinely does find it offensive, then I'm afraid IMHO you need to take a long look at the bigger picture and ask yourself just where your mind has gone.

Whilst it may concern a controversial subject, that is satire at it's best, and really all this joke/cartoon really does is make fun of the past.

How many jokes are there about other major (perhaps even terrorism related) events in the past?
Statistically, people who have had the most birthdays tend to live the longest.

I'm just wondering how many of the people who find this "the most mind-blowingly offensive" thing ever are the same people who tell minorities who are offended by racist jokes or disrespectful language that they are too sensitive and that PC is stopping people from just having a good laugh or saying what they want with free speech. Double standards?

Honestly, this ad doesn't really offend me, though of course it is deliberately in "sick" taste...However, it also doesn't really make me laugh. The Onion has done far better 9/11 gallows humor. Like this one best of all:

http://www.theonion.com/content/video/9_11_conspiracy_theories

Absolutely brilliant.

I didn't like the WTC one too much, but I have to admit the others were quite funny, especially the JFK and the Michael Jackson one. I can understand why some people might feel offended by this, but I am a person that usually likes to laugh things off and give a bit of humour to things.

There was an advert once for a TV show in Germany, which announced something like this: Home for the elderly - no Wednesday without a corpse (Senionenheim - Kein Mittwoch ohne Leiche).

I am afraid that I am one who finds it dammed offensive, I see nothing funny about it. When I look at the people throwing themselves to their deaths out of the buildings rather than burn to death, I never smile, and I know where my mind is.  Angry

Romping Hitler Aids ad criticised

A graphic Aids-awareness TV advert which features an Adolf Hitler lookalike having sex has been condemned by HIV charities.
It will be shown on German TV next week ahead of World Aids Day in December.
The German charity behind the film says Aids has killed 30 million people worldwide, and it wants to shake people up by linking Aids with mass murder.

What's wrong with that Hitler ad? I think it's creative and harsh, but that it sends a very strong message.
