Funniest/Strangest Road Sign?

Wed Aug 26, 2009 7:41 pm

We've all driven by them, and had to take a second glance at that out of the ordinary road sign. What's the strangest/funniest one you've seen? The funniest one i've seen is posted below. It is typical of the roads around where it was taken, and the crooked 14 is the icing on the cake! But one that I can't wait to see is the digital road signs in Regina, which display messages such as "drive carefully" and "caution:Icy roads." But it also says "Please don't drink and drive," and I can't wait to see a car pulled over by the police beside it  Smile

This was just posted by DDOT (District Department of Transportation - Washington DC) on their twitter page. They had fun by tweeting "This sign has apparently amused or befuddled some of you. Anyone care to guess what it means?" @DDOT DC

Not a road sign but I might as well mention it -
at CDG T2F (I think), if you go eat at Paul, you'll see this one when returning your tray:

"Merci de bien vouloir déposer vos plateaux ici."

English translation along the lines of:

"Thank you for agreeing to deposit your trays here."
"There is an art, or rather a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss."

come to the UK - they are common sights on the motorways. I fail to see the humour here?

Anything the US and EU build the Russians do it better! i.e. TU-144 vs Concorde and TU-154 vs The 727...

There is something funny about this sign and seeing it all the time. The child just becomes airborne during the flight.
It's funnier on the 5 Northbound outside after Camp Pendleton before the USBP checkpoint area when people drew surfboards under the arms of the fleeing family.

Just saw it today up in Phoenixville, PA!!

A construction detour sign

"GAY PEDESTRIAN DETOUR"

(It should have read Gay St. Pedestrian Detour, but the "St." was rubbed off. There was another sign with the "St." slightly visible, but then another one had it missing completely like the one mentioned above...)

I got a picture of it, I'll have to upload it if/when I get a chance...

I don't have a picture of it, but there's a sign here in Connecticut that says "Welcome to Connecticut, birthplace of George W. Bush." Underneath that, somebody put a sticker saying "We apologize."
"The brave don't live forever, but the cautious don't live at all."

I'll do my own airline. With Blackjack. And hookers. In fact, forget the airline.

I think we are looking for what u personally have seen
my personal favorites are not funny but thier very australian

Big version: Width: 1600 Height: 1200 File size: 197kb

the next photo is not my own but i have seen the sign a number of times, usually im traveling 160kmh and dont feel like stopping for a photo. To explain it, the royal flying doctor service in australia uses major highways as runways, the roads even have full runway markings
Big version: Width: 800 Height: 600 File size: 97kb

another favourite, i often stop for a photo in this town, yes i know its not spelt the same as the one in iraq but they did receive hate mail when war started, of course u know where the hate mail came from
Big version: Width: 640 Height: 480 File size: 27kb
