Yahoo Mail Issues

Sun Aug 30, 2009 1:11 am

When I use my laptop to log into my Yahoo mail, I get a Yahoo screen telling me there was a problem loading the new Yahoo Mail and gives me a list of options, including view mail in Classic. That seems to be the only way I can read my e-mail on my laptop. One option is to enable ActiveX, which already is. Another is clearing the cache, which is. Somewhere I have seen something about downloading IE 8, but that is not available for XP. At least, I don't remember seeing it on the list. I don't know what else to do. If you recall, my laptop crashed and I had to re-load Windows XP. I don't know if that would have set the whole thing back or not. Has anyone else had problems like this with Yahoo mail?

I have seen that same screen on occasion, usually when my computer has been running for a long time, and normally giving it a few more tries, restarting the browser or, worst case, restarting the computer works. I have Vista (unfortunately) and have seen that screen in both IE 7 and Google Chrome (although I believe I might have seen it once or twice in my cousin's Mac). Wish I could help you more...

Of course it is. While I'm running Firefox, I just started up IE, which I left on my XP machine and included in the update process, to check the version, and it's 8.0.something.

Not sure what causes your problem, but Ymail is working fine for me, so I suspect the problem is at your end, not theirs.

This topic has been discussed at some length in Yahoo! forums. One work-around is to open your inbox in a separate tab. In Firefox you can do this by using the scroll wheel on your mouse to make links open in a new tab. I'm not sure how to do it in IE, but if you can set things up so that you can open your inbox in a new tab that almost always solves the problem.

The same in Safari as well. In IE, if you click with the scroll wheel on a link and you have tabs disabled, it will still open a new window. No idea how this works with tabs though, because I have those disabled.
