Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me On NPR

Tue Sep 01, 2009 4:38 am

I have become so addicted to listening to Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me -- it's a weekly radio news quiz show on NPR that is easily one of the most hilarious/intelligent programs I have ever come across. I download the podcast from iTunes, and I find myself literally laughing out loud in the car, walking around, etc.

Any other a.netters out there a fan? All I can say is that I wish I had come across it sooner than about a year ago...the interviews with celebrities (everyone running the gamut from Jimmy Fallon to Barack Obama to Michael Pollan to Paula Deen) are priceless, to say the least.

Yeah, it's great. Shame that it's been on vacation the past couple of weeks, though, and they're just running "best of" shows. Should be back with current shows next week, and I'm looking forward to it.

The Wait Wait and Car Talk podcasts make my Saturdays a whole lot more enjoyable.

I love this show! I really hate Paula Dean but her spot on the 'not my job' segment was one of the funniest ones.

My grandmother loves that show. And whenever I'm with her when it's on, I listen too. It's been a while, but it's a great show!  Smile

Used to listen to that and A Prairie Home Companion every weekend. It was our Saturday and Sunday morning ritual until I left for college. In college, I used to do Dunkin' Donuts runs mostly just to listen to NPR on weekend mornings  Wink 10 am-noon for Car Talk and Wait Wait Don't Tell Me on Saturday and for A Prairie Home Companion on Sunday in Dallas.

She surprised me. She's quite funny, and in an interesting way. Very Southern sense of humor.

Anyway, count me in. I'm a big "Wait, Wait..." fan. Another great weekend show is "This American Life", which is on PRI and often played on local public radio stations.

My fiancee and I listen to Wait Wait and A Prarie Home Companion...it was a little routine I started when working the ramp at MSP. Being in Minneapolis/St. Paul, you kinda had to listen to Prarie Home...

That show and "This American Life" make Public Radio a national asset. I saw Ira Glass in St Louis last year and met David Sedaris in April. Mike Birbiglia is coming in 2 weeks.

Wait, Wit is fine entertainment, and I agree that NPR is a fine breath of fresh air on radio,

It still should not get government money, though.
