Japan's New First Lady: "I Rode UFO To Venus"

Fri Sep 04, 2009 11:32 pm

Well having this lady in the Prime Minister's residence oughta be interesting...way to go Miyuki!  Yeah sure

A strong believer in spiritualism, Hatoyama said in a TV appearance earlier this year she met U.S. actor Tom Cruise - in a previous life.

"I have a dream that I still believe will come true, which is to make a film in Hollywood," she told a TV talk show in May. "The lead actor is Tom Cruise, of course. Why? Because I know he was Japanese in a previous life.

"I was with him then. So he would recognize me when I see him and say 'long time, no see!'" she said, though cautioned the program's young interviewer not to take her seriously.

...

Miyuki Hatoyama, a former actress, dancer and singer in the hugely popular Takarazuka Revue all-female theater group, wrote in a book published last year about her surrealistic space trip about 20 years ago.

"While my body was sleeping, I think my spirit flew on a triangular-shaped UFO to Venus," she said in the book called "Most Bizarre Things I've Encountered," according to an Internet bookstore bk1, which quoted the passage from the book.

I laughed when I saw on CNN news ticker 'Japan's Next First Lady Proclaims She Can Eat the Sun".

Sure enough, I went online and read article and thought it was interesting her thoughts on going to Venus. Even a celebrity news site, (Dlisted.com) proclaimed her their person of the day.

Still, the Japanese public is really taking it all in stride so far. Can you imagine the overnight shock and outrage if Laura Bush or Michelle Obama said same??

I like Mrs Miyuki Hatoyama. An interesting personality and quite a non-conformist.

She is very much unlilke Michelle Obama or Carla Bruni who are both very much "inside the system". I don't think they can be compared.

I think Mrs Hatoyama will have to adjust now that her husband has become the new Prime Minister of Japan. She will be very much watched and will not be free to speak as she pleases. Japan is still a very conservative country.

Most important of all we will see what her husband will be capable of doing now that he is in power. Will the Japanese be happy of all he will do as the new Prime Minister. That's a different story. Japan Prime Ministers don't seem to last very long.

This is the part that gets me. Her body was sleeping, but her spirit flew away. No chance it might have been a dream, though, according to her.  rotfl

Sure, we're concerned for our lives. Just not as concerned as saving 9 bucks on a roundtrip to Ft. Myers.

It is really the first time that we actually know who the first lady is. In most cases the Japanese First Lady just goes about being a ultra traditional Japanese wife: quiet, 10 steps behind, and no visual role.

I just wish she was not so...weird.

I hope she takes on an issue like US First Ladies do. Maybe instead of making a Hollywood movie, she should focus on encouraging children to get further education, encouraging girls to break the glass ceiling in Japan, and go out to schools and talk to parents about being parents.

To me the last thing this country needs is another "Talent" doing something that 90% of the population can never do. A First Lady represents the women and mothers of the country. She needs to fill that role as the Princesses and Empress do not fill that role at all.
Yes...I am not a KIX fan. Let's Japanese Aviation!

I am very happy to see a Prime Minister's wife being such a non-conformist. There are plenty enough traditional First Ladies around. I prefer to see Mrs Hatoyama staying just as she is.

There will be plenty more traditional women in the job in the coming years so let's hope she will keep being herself and she will keep surprising the world with some outlandish things.

She has no power, it is her husband who will hold all the responsibilities let's wish him the best getting Japan ahead.  arrow

I am also getting to like her husband, Japan's new Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama. I can really see why he does not want to support the war in Afghanistan. I fcan only agree with him on this point and also his anti-globalisation ideas.

Way to go Mr Hatoyama!

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...nment-threatens-split-with-US.html

A split is emerging between the United States and Japan over the new Tokyo government's anti-globalisation rhetoric and its threats to end a refueling agreement for US ships in support of the war in Afghanistan.

I think she is very brave to make such bizarre comments. I'm not sure what my reaction would be if I was her powerful husband.

This is a new public face for Japan which might dismantle or dispel that rather up-tight, over-serious image we have of it.
and with that..cabin crew, seats for landing please.
