Jones Pure Cane Cola, Where To Get It In CO?

Sun Sep 06, 2009 7:13 am

I recently flew on AS to SEA and loved how they now carry Jones Cola. Tried Jones for the very first time and LOVED it! While I was in SEA, my parents needed to make a stop at Costco in Arlington, Washington and I saw a pallet full of Jones Pure Cane Cola (big 36 pack like...). This got me thinking to buy some when I get back to Colorado. Lo and behold, none of the Costco's here in Colorado carry them. Neither does the Super Target nor Safeway.

My question is....why is it not sold here in Colorado? Where can I get only the Jones Pure Cane Cola in Colorado? Granted, I can get the other flavors in 4 bottles at Target ($5 or so..) but not the Pure Cane Cola.

Any help would be appreciated!

I do like the fact that AS/QX offers an alternative to the regular brands.

I think Jones sells their products on their website.

I'm surprised about Target. Target tends to carry mini-cans of assorted flavors and Safeway markets (at least the ones around CA/NV) tend to keep them with the Hansens Natural and other specialty sodas and beverages.

You could ask your Costco to stock it or any other grocer they might be able to order it.

But also, a lot of Costco's sell different things per market demographics and local tastes. My Coscto sells pallets of dried Philippine Mango and these Kimchi noodle bowls, but when I went away to college outside of California and went to a local Costco they were like "Huh..What?" Probably since Jones is based in Washington they have a bigger market share and sell at local Costcos and such.

Even Sam's Club stores varies the goods it stocks in each store according to the stores location.
I can get Mexican Coca Cola (pure sugar) in Hispanic or Black areas but not in the stores located in other areas. example: You can get it at the Greenspoint location in Houston, but not the Woodlands location. You can get good Kosher food at the Sam's Club near Meyerland (a predominantly Jewish area) but not in the Katy location.

I did a search on Costco's website and it comes up with ZERO hits. WTF?!

My gf told me today that the Targets in Texas carry it all.  confused

That explains why is saw a bunch of pallets of the stuff in Arlington.

Now here's something we can agree on!  Wink I've fallen in love with Jones Cola and it's become another reason I love flying Alaska/Horizon. They sell it in Costco's here in Boise, but they are relatively pretty spendy if I remember right.

Panera and Atlanta Bread Company have it as well although not in bulk.

A cool thing about it is you can submit your photos and they will print them on the bottles. I have a photo of mine floating around out there.

Jones is from Washington state. I'm surprised it's not available in every western state since every metro Atlanta grocer stocks it. If you find it, try their cream soda too.

Strangely, my Safeway here in COS carries it, or at least used to. I'm not a pop drinker, so I haven't actually paid that much attention...

Check out http:/www.hometownfavorites.com. They carry lots of different brands of soda. If Jones pure cane cola isn't listed you can put in a request for it. This is how I found Nehi soda. Good luck.

Jones seems to have cut back on the stores that carry their product. I only ever saw it at a Costco in San Diego once (they were giving out free samples), but for a while several of the local grocery stores and Target and Sears Essentials (aka Kmart) had it in cans as well. More recently it's gotten harder to find and when I do, it's usually in the 4-pack of glass bottles rather than the 12-pack of cans which seems a lot more expensive per unit.

Costco's web site carries notably different inventory than the stores, and I've also seen cases where the online price is different than the price in the store.

When I worked at the SuperTarget in Westminster, CO last year....we carried the Jones Pure Cane Cola in a 12 pack box which were the canned type. And now they don't carry it anymore. That sucks. So you might be right, Jones has cut back on the stores that carry the stuff.

But then again, I wonder why..... that is weird...

Looks like the expansion didn't go well and cost them a lot of money, so they pulled out of the big box chains in favor of smaller retailers less likely to discount the product:

Jones Soda has been a basketcase the last few years. Back in 2006 I bought some stock in them and made a quick 40% in two months. I would have held in there longer and potentially made even more, but their conference call spooked me. They had just figured out how to make money selling bottled soda, but were expanding into cans, energy drinks, candies, and a bunch of other stuff. They had no focus or direction. Then management mentioned during the call that they were having distribution issues with the canned soda side. That's when I got out with my profits. Just to compound their problems, they promptly signed a deal to bring the canned soda to WalMart, even though they couldn't make a profit on it due to distribution issues.

I've been following them the last few years because they interest me, and they only in the last year or so started to focus again on their core business of making soda and move past some of the silly ideas they had. They never were able to streamline their distribution enough to make the canned soda work at WalMart prices, and that's why it's disappearing from the big box retailers.
It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems with just potatoes.

Doing business with Wal*Mart is a big no-no. Do a google search on what Wal*Mart did to Vlasic....  no

checkmark  The same thing is happening or has happened to Vlasic.
