Gordon Brown - Incredible Warped Reporting

Wed Sep 30, 2009 3:40 pm

First off, I should like to say that I can't stand Gordon Brown or his government. However, this is just hilarious.

Review the following articles:

"Brown loses his cool: PM's fightback backfires as he tries to storm out of TV interview"

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...rm-TV-interview.html#ixzz0SbX2JK7J

"Gordon Brown, the Prime Minister, walked out of a television interview while the cameras were still rolling during a series of angry exchanges with broadcasters"

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/news...y-exchanges-with-broadcasters.html

Now watch the interview yourself, and make up your own mind about the way the interview is represented in those articles:

http://blogs.news.sky.com/boultonand...3d484b-e189-487a-8505-d36fe93e726c

I haven't seen anything so ridiculous for a long time! Here I was, searching for the video footage of the interview thinking that I was going to see multiple tantrums from the PM culminating in an attempt to 'storm off', when all I get is a slightly testing but very good-natured and calm interview during which for the most part he seems utterly relaxed and in control!

I know the different parts of the media like to put their particular slant on things, but this is just ridiculous!

Gordon did try to walk out however that isn't featured in the clips. He also walked off at the end of a BBC interview right in front of the presenter as she was finishing up. She told him he could wait a moment and he ignored her and walked off in front of the camera.

Now we just need him to walk right out of Downing St. and never return!

Yes we do. But do we have an alternative ? Cameron is too lightweight and inexperienced.

At what point in the Sky interview did he do that?

Also, The Telegraph says: "Asked about a comment from Lord Mandelson that the public could not see through a “filter” at the Prime Minister's real character, Mr Brown snapped: “He was probably talking about the media.”

Well, I saw that part in the video and there was no possible way you could ever describe him as 'snapping' in response to that. He was relaxed and laughing at that point.

Russianjet, you appear to be looking at the wrong interview. If you read the telegraph article, it was an interview with Sian Williams on the BBC, not Sky with Adam Boulton.

From the Telegraph:

Quote:

"Following one particularly testy interview with Sky News, he attempted to walk out of the studio when still connected to a microphone, and while he was expected to remain in his seat for a second broadcast with the BBC. "

"Sky has campaigned vociferously for the event, and Mr Brown told Mr Boulton: “You are sounding a bit like a political propagandist yourself.”

He went on to accuse the journalist of being “obsessed” with the Labour leadership, adding: “You have not given me the chance to talk about the economy.”

Asked about a comment from Lord Mandelson that the public could not see through a “filter” at the Prime Minister's real character, Mr Brown snapped: “He was probably talking about the media.”

While the Telegraph does indeed refer to the BBC interview as well, it certainly way overplays the Sky interview.

The Mail similarly mentions both.

Sky is the TV version of The Sun anyway these days. They keep banging on about a leadership debate but are only inviting Lib Lab and Con. No doubt all part of the Murdoch agenda.

In the 2009 Euro elections (figures from Wiki) turnout across Great Britain was 15,136,932, representing 34% of the electorate: (Top 10 results only)

Conservative 4,198,394 (27.7%)
UKIP 2,498,226 (16.5%)
Labour 2,381,760 (15.7%)
Liberal Democrat 2,080,613 (13.7%)
Green 1,223,303 (8.6%)
British National 943,598 (6.2%)
SNP 321,007 (2.1%)
Plaid Cymru 126,702 (0.8%)
English Democrats 279,801 (1.8%)
Christian Party/Christian Peoples Alliance (joint ticket) 249,493 (1.6%)

My point is that if you're going to have a debate, have a proper one.

As much as I can't stand Brown I'm begining to think most of the UK media is utter crap.
