Another Problem With Spyware

Tue Oct 13, 2009 7:05 pm

Well once again I'm having another problem with spyware on my computer. It started yesterday and whenever I click on ANY Internet link it sends me to some random page asking me to sign up for or buy something. I used McAffe to scan my computer and it removed three trojans, but the problem still persisted. I went back and scanned again except this time there wasn't anything detected at all? Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix the problem? Thanks.

Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and do a full system scan. It should help get rid of some of the nasty stuff.

You can download it here: http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebyte...?tag=contentBody;mostPopTwoColWrap

McCrappy is uber shiat. Get rid of that scanner and get Avira or Avast!, they're much much better.

May I also highly recommend this, it prevents spyware from installing in the first place:

Been using it for years, works great.

use that program but remember to boot windows into safe mode before running that program and turn off system restore before you run the scan.

agree completely. I had this exact problem 4 days ago (and again about 5 months ago). I had to boot up in safe mode and run malawareadbytes off of a flash drive. I got it while not having any virus protection (not even free). I now am using a virus protection (I too have not heard great things about mcafee). anyway, it is a vicious one.

Like I said I can't open any links because of the spyware, so once I do get it sent over via email or flash drive, how do I boot it up in safe mode and turn system restore off? Thanks.

I decided to give this one a shot and it seemed to fix the problem. I transferred the file over via flash drive and once I got the program installed and activated, there doesn't seem to be any problems with webpages. Thanks for your help.
